Fire Bill Robinson

Featured Replies

Firing someone or making a heavy trade servers more as a wakeup call to the team then it does a way of improvment. 2003 was a perfect example, you think McKeon managed to turn a team destined for a record of 10 or 15 games under .500 into World Champs all with his own little skill and magic. Firing and restaffing half the coaches sends a serious message, and right now thats what this team needs.

Weather it really is Robinson none of us can really know, it could be that, could be pitchers have are lineup mastered, could be a players don't have there heads in the game, theres a dozen possibilities but something needs to get done to wake these guys up. If we wait and wait and wait on this we'll find ourself completly out of it. Yeah it's early but the race is so tight we need to get these early wins under are belt so we can have a cushion come September, especially against are own division.

I have one question and on point.

1. Can someone who is so adamently in favor of firing Bill Robinson explain why a hitting coach is so important? and what you expect a new better hitting coach to do differently? and what that impact will be?

2. Though we have struggled offensively and are on pace to score less runs than last year, I think people's expectation of this lineup is unfair. Last year they scored 718 runs and only made one change, that is Delgado instead of Conine. Everyone expects the Marlins to be in the top 3 or 4 in baseball and score 800 runs. But Delgado is not 80 runs better than Conine. 30, maybe. Even that is a lot. So we shouldn't expect them to score more than 750 or so.

We have 46 hits in our last 4 games. Why fire our hitting coach?

Because we can't score runs.

To #1. Do something to wake these guys up, costing a man his job will sure get you thinking. AS I said worked in 03' lets try it in 05' just not as drastic.

To #2. I think Delgado is worth another 50 or 60 runs, take into affect how much he disrupts the lineup (we've seen it a few times this year) soon as Castillo and Pierre start getting on base consistantly he'll be able to do the same thing Pudge did for us but with a little more pop. Before the year started I was thinking he'd get a good 120 RBI, course I didn't expect are leadoff hitters to be doing so horrible right now.

I have one question and on point.

He can still get 120 RBI. He's been hitting more long balls recently... he'll go on a Delgado streak where he drives in like 70 runs in 50 games. Didn't he drive in 90 runs in the first half of 2003? He can do it.

This team right now needs a face lift. We need some new faces to freshen us up.

An arrogant fetus like Bill Robinson is PARTLY why this team isn't hitting.

He needs to get fired sooner than later, and I don't care how many letters I have to send to Beinfest.

P.S. Did anyone see that watermelon/beachball hanging slider that their reliever threw at Lowell. All he did was pop it out of play.

That's my exact point, we need fresh faces. I like the fact that we/ & and organization has remained loyal to some our our players (Gonzo, Lowell, Pierre) but when you see the players start to slump this way for such a long time you have to take action. These guys get paid millions of dollars and all they do is hit flyballs and double plays. s*** if that's their job I will be happy to do it for half of what they get paid.

Florida Marlins Updated:06/08/2005

The Marlins are struggling to produce runs, leading to suggestions that the team is considering replacing hitting coach Bill Robinson, says the Palm Beach Post.

Replace with who though? it is the middle of the season and nobody is free yet. Gonna bring up someone from the minor to teach them the basics perhaps?

Although reporters have speculated that hitting coach Bill Robinson's job could be on the line, Marlins players said they do not think he will get fired. Team officials, however, wouldn't rule it out if the Marlins don't start producing.

When it's been going on now for two years and especially this year after acquiring a big bat like Delgado then yes.

All i have to say is..

Castillo-2B

Encarnacion-RF

Cabrera-3B

Delgado-1B

LoDuca-C

Conine-LF

Gonzalez-SS

Pierre-CF

Pitcher

I will add my 2 cents on that one:

Castillo-2B

LoDuca - C

Cabrera-3B

Delgado-1B

Encarnacion-CF

Conine-RF

Harris-LF

I'll bet that "deep down" most people in favor of firing Robinson just think want it for the sake of making a change in the hopes of sparking something. Robinson doesn't all of the sudden change his teaching tactics 180 degrees.

Well, his arrogant comments and lack of accepting his 'share' of the responsibility can't possibly sit well with the players. We as fans can't really know that for sure, of course, but surely it must bother them, Bill saying that no one could do a better job than HE has.

This is a time to be humble, go about your business and turn things around -not brag.

He insulted the players by saying something along the lines of "I don't think any other hitting coach could make this team hit. Not with this team."

He is an arrogant fetus that takes no responsibility whatsoever for the way the teams hitting and has said that even if the team isn't hitting, he won't take any pressure for it.

This is leading me to believe that lately he is a clubhouse cancer.

Coaching has a greater impact than many people think. The Marlins improved after they got Jack Mckeon (D-Train+Cabrera). The Mets have improved since they booted Art Howe (Acquired Beltran+Martinez) and I believe the Indians and Blue Jays have been winning more games since they fired their hitting coaches.

Give him the boot. We need some new faces around here.

That's not what he said.

When asked if it concerned him that Cleveland on Saturday fired hitting coach Eddie Murray, Robinson said, "Guys don't get fired when they're leading the league in hitting and still in the pennant race. The guys who are let go are guys whose teams are hopefully out of it. Nobody in the world could do a better job - not with this team. No one could ever do a better job than I've done."

Paul Lo Duca, before his three-hit game Sunday, said he's a "prime example" of being "terrible" with runners in scoring position.

"Our hitting coach does a great job, our coaches do a good job," Lo Duca said. "They can't throw it for us. And they can't hit it and field it for us. We have to go out and do it. They give us all we need."

Manager Jack McKeon said, "It's up to (the players). They're the actors on the stage. They've got to make adjustments. We've been patient as hell. I'm tired of being patient with these guys. I believe in them. But sooner or later, you either sink or swim."

"I guess I am concerned," Robinson said. "I'll take all the blame if it keeps the pressure (off the hitters). ... Though the hitting coach doesn't hit, it's always his responsibility. It's a tough job. It's a thankless job. You get all the blame when the guys don't do well. And you don't get any of the credit when they do well."
