June 4, 200521 yr So, who's taking bets that he'll be signed first thing tomorrow? Methinks either Bump or Perisho just got his walking papers after this.
June 4, 200521 yr They both need to be sent down. They have been completely horrendous. However, anyone you bring up will be just as bad or even worse. I say we sign Danny Graves, pick-up somebody decent/solid by the All-Star, and hope Alf and the Spoon will be ready for the final push.
June 4, 200521 yr after bump's outing today i wouldnt bet against it. This could also mean that graves comes in and he has a few good outing he takes bump's, which would make him the 7th inning guy.
June 4, 200521 yr I leave Bump in as a innings eater for game out of reach and release Perisho Another team will pick up Perisho inmediately, due to the low ERA
June 4, 200521 yr Another team will pick up Perisho inmediately, due to the low ERA 795223 That team's other pitchers will soon have the Perisho effect as their ERA's inflate when he comes in and his doesn't... it's time to add a new category entitled "PERA" (Perisholess E.R.A) which shows a pitcher's ERA without Perisho aiding the rise of it.
June 4, 200521 yr If either, Perisho has got to go. Mecir can be our lefty specialist. Bump did his job in the 1st inning of work and decided to toss a curve to 2nd which ruined it in the 2nd inning of work.
June 4, 200521 yr Maybe we could see a prospect in the bullpen instead of Bump (like Bazardo or Kensing or something)...probably not but it might not hurt much
June 4, 200521 yr Bump has been good for the most part. He got in trouble in his SECOND inning of work. That's something Jack needs to learn from. It happened to Todd Jones the other day when he blew the Pittsburgh game- it was in his SECOND inning of work. You've got seven guys, don't stretch them out until you have to, Jack. And there was a throwing error involved, albeit his own, that if does not happen, leads to a double play and no problems. Besides... Bump's not going to be a major part of the pen this year. He's not going to be why we do or don't win the division. He's a warm body who's been decent for the most part. You can't have seven Eric Gagnes in the pen. I question Jack for leaving him in for a second inning.
June 4, 200521 yr Who cares where he goes!?! The pen is not the problem with this team. The problem is our offense, they never score enough runs to give a pitchers a little breathing room. I say fire Bill Robinson end of discussion.
June 4, 200521 yr I'd keep Bump, he pitched very good last night, just his defense was what caused the game. Now perisho comes in to get Left Handers out but he hasnt done that in like 3/4 weeks!
June 4, 200521 yr I have a feeling Graves will do awesome at the old Pro. Maybe I'll eat my words come the end of the season, but I think he is our 2003 Chad Fox.
June 4, 200521 yr Matt Perisho needs to get released. 11 walks in 13 IP compared to 9 Ks is just pathetic. A LH speciliast who walks every freaking lefty he faces. I'd rather have anyone in the game and that includes nate bump.
June 4, 200521 yr I'd keep Bump, and as someone said earlier, he could be useful as an innings eater (instead of unproven guys like Bazardo and Kensing who are better off starting games in the minors).
June 4, 200521 yr The need for a lefty specialist is a little overrated in my opinion. Mecir is pretty damn good against lefties anyways. I see no reason in keeping a man who cannot throw strikes to lefties when he is considered the lefty specialist.
June 4, 200521 yr I'd like to see Chad bentz get a shot as our lefty specialist. 795531 At least on paper Bentz looks like a no-brainer. Perhaps someone who follows the 'Topes closely can shed some light on why he's not up in the big, his stats certainly appear to warrant it. I know he was on the DL for awhile but since his return he appears to be pitching extremely effectively.
