boot jack mckeon?

Featured Replies

My brother-in-law has a friend who is very close with the family of one of the players. He lives out of town and I told him about the herald article which cites anonomous sources as being disgruntled with management, especially Jack McKeon. My brother-in-law decided to ask his buddy about it. The friend got back to him and said that the unrest comes mainly from the young players, pitchers in particular. They aren't happy with how they are being used, sometimes being left in too long, sometimes being taken out too soon. He says that all the veterans love McKeon, but it's mainly the younger guys who haven't been in the league too long that have a problem with him. Mota and AJ were mentioned. Just thought I'd pass that along....

We need Joe Torre maybe the Yankees will get rid of him because of the mess in Yankee town. We all know he knows how to raise young talent and get them to interact with them and the veterans. Plus he is like the best at knowing how to deal with great pitchers.

Lou sucks he just had great talent and great coaches in seattle now look at him he is no baseball coaching god i think that he should go into broadcasting.

Joe Torre is nothing special, infact, he'S HORRIBLE. That's right, I said Joe Torre is horrible. Anytime you have a 200+ million dollar payroll and a manager can't find a way to win ball games, something is very wrong.

Steinbrenner: Joe, we lost again tonight.

Joe Torre: durrrrr, but how can we lose, we have Derek Jeter

He gets stacked teams every single year filled with countless future hall of famers and all stars and he has a 200 million dollar payroll at his disposal and he STILL can't win, that says a lot about the type of manager he is.

Joe Torre is all hype and any of his success was bought, not earned. The logic you used in your second paragraph about Lou Piniella completely 100% applies to Joe Torre.

811216[/snapback]

Hype? Cant Win?

Joe Torre has won 8 of the last 9 AL East Crowns.

He has 4 World Championships and 6 American League championships.

Joe Torre does not trade and sign players. This team may have a 200 million dollar payroll, but it is not a well spent 200 million (Kevin Brown - 15 mil, Giambi - 13 mil, Bernie Williams - 12 mil). That is more the fault of Steinbrenner and Cashman then Torre. Torre is given the team, he doesnt construct it.

And his success has not been 'bought'. Your knowledge of the Yankees must only go back a few years. In 1996 their highest paid player, at 9 million was Cecil Fielder who played in 50 games that year. Their next highest paid player, Ruben Sierra (6 mil) batted .258 in less than 100 games. Id say the bulk of their production came from guys like Tino Martinez and Bernie Williams, players who were paid in about the middle of the pay scales in 96.

His 1998 team is probably one of the top ten greatest and most dominant teams of all time.

I think for a team with so many superstars is alot harder to manage then people think. He has huge egos and numerous psyche's. He has to balance all of that in the clubhouse and taking it into consideration when he manages and with every little move and decision he makes.

And how does he 'still' not win? He hasnt won a title in 5 years? That's saying something about the Yankees when anyone can consider 5 years a drought.

Your ignorance (and childishness with the 'quotes from 'Brenner and Torre') is downright sad and it is even more pitiful when a Red Sox fan has to type out Torre and the Yankees dominance in the sport.

Lou isn't an idiot, and he doesn't " suck "

Lou is in a bad situation where the ownership ( naimoli ) refuses to spend money on the team. He's got the leagues lowest payroll, somewhere around $28M I believe, and he is forced to go with washed up Vets or raw, raw rookies. each year the Rays lose their best players and trade their hitters for pitching prospects that never pan out.

You can only improve a team so much without money and an ownership group that cares about winning more than the bottom line.

If Naimoli left Tampa, they would be a winning club within 3 years.

Lou isn't an idiot, and he doesn't " suck "

if they had an owner that was willing to spend money, yes.

lets get rosenthal back

Rosenthal is a great guy, but since he's been out we've seen Dontrelle Willis go from ok to amazing. Moehler has also emerged as a middle rotation starter and the rest of the staff (except Al) has performed better than expected.

I don't want him back now.

while that may be the case, some of the moves Piniella makes boggle the mind

like Reggie Taylor and Damon Hollins over Jonny Gomes and Joey Gathright

keeping BJ Upton in the minors

BJ Upton's defense is horrid...I saw him in person a few weeks back and he was pitiful in the field.

while his D isnt very good, Upton should still be starting at SS for them... the DRays should let him learn on the job(which they want him to, but Lou says no sir)

He's 20 years old...its not like time is running out. Itd be better to have his glove grow instead of getting shelled and embarass himself in the majors.

His batting numbers in AAA are solid, but its not like he is setting the world on fire.

Lou knows talent...

his teams in the late 80's early 90's in Cincinnati were good and his teams in Seattle were great.

I don't believe that Upton and Gaithright are ready for the show, Lou had to demote one of his better pitchers ( Seth McClung ) to Durham because he hasn't come around from his injury.

Lou makes strange moves from time to time but prior to signing on in Tampa, he's been a winner since the 80's.

Am not blaming the coaches for anything, I love trader jack, but if he goes, who replaces him is my true question, I was suggesting a potencial replacement, that's all.

In my estimation, and admittedly I could be 100% wrong, but when a guy has been through what Pinella has at Tampa, for as long as he has, there's probably not much left in the tank.

Managing in that environment has to burn a guy out, especially someone with his emotional/psychological makeup.

Torre won the WS with the Yanks before the payroll was insane.

Then I got some false information. The facts on how thier money was poorly spent at the top half of their paysclae still holds true though.

Funny how you quote one out of many sentences from my post and funny how the post had more to do with the success of Joe Torre that not even you can deny.

But we know you hate the Yankees so no matter what they accomplish, you'll trash them.
