June 16, 200521 yr I stayed up late to watch this heartbreaker to the very end. With Wash. up 1 -0 in the bottom of the 9th inning, the LAA loaded the bases up with NO outs! And astonishingly and agonizingly, they strand them and lose the game. Marlins remain a steep 4 1/2 out and guess who we have next? Yes, these f***s who did nothing to help us out. Now watch them break out of their funk just in time for us.

June 16, 200521 yr Author Call it a heartbreaker if you want it was a GREAT game. 812028 Huh?! Who wants great games? I want NL 1st place teams to lose so we gain ground. Because being 4 1/2 games out with 9 more games on the road with all tough teams (Tampa being the toughest,if you know what I mean) & without one of our best starting pitchers - as I had said in a post 2 weeks ago - the Marlins are a heartbeat away from being out of contention (by the allstar break?) Trying to remain optimistic but there's been NO luck on the side of the Marlins for almost two seasons now.
June 16, 200521 yr Angels blew it. Cordero didn't give Vlad much of a chance (a good call) however Erstad could have scored on the Anderson single to right. Oh well.

The Marlins still have more than 5 games left with the Nationals. If we take care of business when we play them then we don't need to worry about what else they are doing. That goes for all NL East teams. It is June. We have plenty of games left against all of the NL East teams so we do control our own destiny believe it or not. In June I would rather enjoy games then have rooting interests one way or another. Especially in a game like this.
June 16, 200521 yr Author Angels blew it. Cordero didn't give Vlad much of a chance (a good call) however Erstad could have scored on the Anderson single to right. Oh well. 812040 Scenario: Runners on 1st & 2nd (Erstad on 2nd), no outs. Juanky, is Erstad THAT slow? He was on 2nd base. The single was to right field and it rolled out there fairly slow & the RF was not that shallow when he came up with the ball. When the camera switched to Erstad, he hadn't even reached 3rd yet when the RF started to field the ball. He should of already been around the bag and at least 10 feet past the 3rd base coach. What was he doing? Holding a garage sale when the ball was hit?????? I was in absolute "Twilight Zone" shock. This made it bases loaded now..and NO outs.Still 1-0 Nats. If that was not frustrating enough. The LAA's subsequently make 3 outs in a row and strand everyone, including their mother, sisters, brothers, and the ground crew. Why do I watch these games????!!!???LOL!!!!!!!!

I guess he figured there would be bases loaded and no outs,so not risk it. I know it's not a freakin' easy job for these coaches.
June 16, 200521 yr Yeah, bad call, but I guess he thought Finley was going to drive him in. In that situation I think you have to be more aggressive, but if he's gunned down that might kill the rally. Tough call, and if you lose you're gonna get second guessed either way. It's really a philosophy thing and the 3B coach was playing not to lose instead of to win.
June 16, 200521 yr then i guess your a marlins fan and not a baseball fan if you dont want to watch a great game
June 16, 200521 yr I couldn't bring myself to actually root for the Nationals last night although I give them credit for a great win. It just reminded me that's how winning teams win and that we're not the only ones who strand runners with the bases loaded and no outs. As a Marlins fan it was agonizing to watch. I felt for the throngs of Angel's fans who sat there as if at a funeral, watching their team make those three outs.

June 16, 200521 yr lol, naw, im just making a point, but i would undrestand if you wanted the nationals to loss over seeing a good game
June 16, 200521 yr Author lol, naw, im just making a point, but i would undrestand if you wanted the nationals to loss over seeing a good game 812223 Listen,I have season tix to the Marlins.I also watch every single road Marlins game on tv.I have 162 chances to see good games. I also watch other games on the sat dish, so I have another million chances to catch "good" games. But when our favorite team needs help, I root for the team we need to beat that team. Seems like a simple plan to me. If it happens to be a good game, then that's a bonus..but after the end of that game last night I had that same angry and frustrated feeling again. I stayed up to watch the Nats come back and beat LAA the night before too in that Pine tar controversy game.I watched ex-Angel Jose Guillen get booed by 40,000 fans he used to play in front of last season, and then watch him get quick revenge by hitting a game winning 3 run homer. You couldn't write a better storyline. I enjoyed the game overall. It had action, good pitching, bad pitching, clutch hitting, controversey,etc......but it's ending again left me angry and frustrated. We get within 3 1/2 game for one day. The dust clears and this is what we have? The Marlins take 2 out of 3 from the Cubs in Wrigley Field and find themselves 4 1/2 games out and heading to LAA,Atlanta, and Tampa for nine more road games. Look familiar?? Remember last season whenever we would go on a little run , the Braves would also. Then if the Braves had a little slide, so would we. I don't want to see this bad luck thing to continue ..that's all I am trying to say here.We finally see daylight and Josh goes on the DL. Things are NOT looking good despite our hitting seemingly breaking out.Or is it? We got shutout in between two monster offensive games. Who knows what team we have for sure? Maybe we should call them Sybil?
June 16, 200521 yr wow, wow,wow , i didt read all of ur last post but i didnt mean to out you intothat type of mood, sorry, and GO MARLINS!
June 16, 200521 yr Whats the big deal here? Its the Nationals in first place not the braves. We are starting to play a little better, and hopefully it wil continue. Nationals will come back to reality, no need to worry. PS there are 100 games left so the position we are in now does NOT matter. Last year at this time we were in first and in 2003 we were either 4th or 5th.
June 16, 200521 yr It doesnt take away from the fact that the Angels blew a chance to take last night's game. As usual, they'll probably come up with clutch hits this weekend.

The Nationals are playing very well right now, but I find it hard to believe that they can continue on this pace. I'm not usually one to go heavy into stats, but look at their run differential. They have allowed one more run than they have scored. That is indicative of a .500 or below team. They are winning a lot of 1 run games, and those will even out of the course of a season as well. To me the bottom line is that they are playing at their peak right now, while the Marlins haven't come anywhere close to playing their best ball yet.

Oh well. 812040 And should have scored. Scoscia should have the 3B coach's head for not sending him. No way he would have been thrown out.
June 16, 200521 yr yea, but thik of it, he made the right desision, bases loaded with 0 outs, i would of done the same thing, if the nationals were in that situation and would of scored, u guys would of said it was a smart move
