ARod is Dominican.

Yes, I know they are not born there, but they still should/will play for their native country.

nomar could also play for mexico, AROD IS playing for DR, sheff said he wouldn't play for the US team, and i would start variteck and lee over helton and piazza

shouldn't it be what their citizenship is? I mean, my "native country" is England. If I was a major league baseball allstar, I wouldn't try playing on an England team. If so, I bet Europe would have some pretty sick teams. The American team would be pretty empty.

you can play for any country you have ties to

AJ Burnett should be on there somewhere

And I wouldnt start Lee over Helton. Not yet at least.

Lee is having a great season, Helton has had a great career.

Sooooo, I bet there are gonna be some sick teams for African countries. And I bet Spain puts together a nasty team too, since most hispanics can trace at least some Spanish decent (even if it was just one conquistador).

My picks for top teams:

England, Germany, Spain, a variety of West African countries.

Nice sarcasm there buddy, too bad no one is laughing.

You know exactly what we mean. Ties as in RECENT ties, not ones dating back hundreds of years. Id say most hispanics/foreigners feel closer to their parents native land than the U.S. Its only normal, nothing wrong with it.

ARod says hes playing for the DR... has he ever been to the Dominican?

:lol

I was thinking the same thing. ARod is a little bitch. ARod was born in America and this country allowed him to become rich and successful. It is a slap in the face to this country for him to play for another country. The next time he claims to be American, someone should kick his p***y ass.

is ARod a Dominican citizen? Does he have dual citizenship? If he doesn't, than that is sad. I mean, he might as well just pick a country to play for. (If he's never been a dominican citizen) Arod has no ties to the DR. None. His parents might, but he does not. That's like me claiming to be from Alabama because my mom was. I've never lived there, therefore I cannot be considered an Alabamian.

He does have Dual Citizenship to the DR and USA and announced during the All-Star week that he would be playing for the Domican team

So as a result, he has the luxury of being able to pick sides.

Hey, I'd pick to be Dominican too if I had a good excuse -- that team is stacked!

ok, well it isn't as bad as I originally thought. Fortunately, I prefaced my statement by asking aloud if he had dual citizenship.

After saying he planned to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, Alex Rodriguez was told by Bud Selig that it wasn't his choice to make.

Selig didn't say whether Rodriguez would be asked to represent the U.S. or the Dominican Republic in the competition, but it is known that A-Rod was asked to be the representative of the U.S. in Monday's home run derby. Rodriguez was born and raised in the U.S., but telling him he can't pick his country when he does quality to represent both seems a little more significant than telling him which cap he'll be wearing in the Hall of Fame.
