August 1, 200521 yr i heard it on cbs 4, they said there was close to being a trade with eddie jones being traded, involves memphis but they did not mention the thrid team and who the players are, i saw on hoopshype that jason williams is in the deal...... anyone know the specifics, they said its 48rs from being done.
August 1, 200521 yr I saw a rumor on a website saying Doleac to Memphis, J-Will to Boston, Antoine to Miami. CBS4 had some guy on saying there were talks of trading Eddie Jones. He said the Heat really like J-Will, "White Chocolate." He said Memphis was trying to get rid of him because he was "enigmatic." He said they are also trying to ship out, I think the name was, Posey, who he said was good on defense.

Not satisfied with the makeup of a team that was one game from the NBA Finals, Heat president Pat Riley is considering making significant moves that could include trading swingman Eddie Jones and acquiring Memphis point guard Jason Williams, according to several NBA sources. Among the moves being considered is a trade that would send Jones to Memphis and bring Williams and small forward James Posey to Miami. Williams played three years with the Sacramento Kings and four with the Grizzlies, earning a reputation as a talented but troubled player. The Grizzlies have been trying to move him all offseason. However, Williams is among the best passers in the league, can run both a fast break and halfcourt offense and is a three-point threat. Posey is a quality defender with a versatile offensive game, but he spent much of last season battling nagging foot injuries that limited him to 50 games. Jones was the Heat's third-leading scorer last season and best perimeter defender, proving his worth during last year's run to the Eastern Conference finals. But trade rumors have surrounded the 11-year veteran since his first year in Miami. A THIRD TEAM A report out of Memphis had the Grizzlies, Heat and an unidentified team discussing a three-way trade involving Williams. But if the Heat and Grizzlies agreed to a swap of Jones for Williams and Posey, the move would work under the collective bargaining agreement without a third team needed. Williams is scheduled to make $7.5 million next season with three years remaining on his deal, and Posey is set to make $5.9 million on a deal that expires in 2007. Jones is scheduled to make $14.5 million next season, with two years left on the seven-year deal he signed in 2000. WALKER POSSIBLE The Heat also is considering adding free agent forward Antoine Walker, possibly in a sign-and-trade deal with Boston, though no agreement was imminent. Walker visited with Riley last week, and although a straight signing of the free agent is unlikely, the Heat could package Michael Doleac, Rasual Butler and its $1.9 million trade exception to Boston in exchange for Walker. That would allow Walker to sign for a starting salary of about $6 million, and the Celtics would not have to take on much salary in return. Doleac is in the second year of a four-year deal that pays him $2.6 million next year, and Butler is in the final year of his contract and will make about $1.5 million next season. The Heat also will look into players released using the new amnesty rule that allows teams over the luxury tax to waive a player. EYE ON FINLEY If the Dallas Mavericks waive Michael Finley (reports have varied on the Mavericks' intentions) the Heat would be interested in signing the swingman who once played for Heat coach Stan Van Gundy when he coached the University of Wisconsin. The league set an Aug. 15 deadline for teams to release players under the amnesty rule. The league's moratorium will end at noon Tuesday, and a flurry of activity is expected then. The Heat is expected to announce the re-signing of Shaquille O'Neal to a possible five-year deal worth as much as $125 million as well as formally announce the re-signing of Udonis Haslem to a five-year, $30.7 million deal. August 1, 200521 yr I wouldn't mind getting rid of Posey (injury-prone), but I'd really like to hold on to J-Will. I think he's and underrated point guard, and I don't think Earl Watson is ready to step up and start at PG.
August 1, 200521 yr I dont like williams. I think he is turn over trouble and all... He makes some rather foolish decisions. Plus his shooting percentage (believe about 37%) doesnt scream to me starting PG for a championship team. Granted it would go up with wade and shaq. And really he would only carry the ball to mid court then the rest is up to shaq and wade anyways. But, I think we need to lower the number of turn overs not raise them,

The first trade would send G/F Eddie Jones to the Memphis Grizzlies for oft-problematic G Jason Williams and F James Posey. This deal would save the Heat approximately $2 million in salary cap room. The other deal being well-discussed around the league is a sign-and-trade deal where the Boston Celtics would sign F Antoine Walker to a 2 year deal and trade him to Miami in exchange for C/F Michael Doleac, F Jerome Beasley, and the $1.9 million trade exception acquired in the Steve Smith for Malik Allen deal. If these two trades happen, the Miami Heat would be an incredibly deep team. August 2, 200521 yr Marko Jaric would be an incredible addition to the team. I dont want Walker on the Heat but if Shaq is cool with it, than Ill be cool with it. If anyone can control Walker and his insistence on chucking up shots Shaq can do it. Williams/Posey for EJ, I love ya Eddie but, where do I sign. One thing I love about the Heat and Mickey Arison is there will to win. If this were baseball a player of Shaq's ability would never get to play in Miami, this is why the NBA and the NFL have it right, and now the NHL.
August 2, 200521 yr Williams and Walker have a history of being erratic. But like FTF said, if anyone can control them, its Shaq. If they learn that Shaq and Wade are the two big dogs, then this hands down becomes the favorite to win the title. Both those guys present the exact thing the Heat needed last year, options that take the pressure off of Shaq and Wade to do everything. The bench is still nothing to look at but the starting lineup makes up for it.

He is making sure that he will get his shots but that this is Wade and Shaq's team and that he would be the 3rd option on this team. Im also sure that if Antione isnt 100% clear on this that no trade will take place. And Adding J-Will would be a hell of a signing. Wade is more comfortable as the 2 guard and well White Chocolate knows how to run the court. Sign him up.
