August 1, 200521 yr Asmost of you know I was the biggest Bill Robinson hater on the board. After about a month of thinking this I've decided to change my position on Bill Robinson. The guy really isn't at fault for what happened early on in the year. Pierre and Lowell were the problem early on. Now that both have brought up the averages the team has begun to score runs more consistently. You really can't blame Mike Lowell's and Juan Pierre's early season problems on Bill Robinson. The offense didn't click as early as I'd hoped. But I realized that sometimes these things take a longer time than wanted. Look at these rankings among NL teams: Runs: 473 (7th) BA: .279 (1st) OBP: .344 (2nd) SLG: .424 (5th) OPS: .768 (4th) IMO the HR power outages of Lowell, AGon, and Lo Duca are what really hurt this team early on. We currently have 88 team home runs. That ranks us 13th in the league. If those players mentioned above would have hit HR's closer to what they did last year, this team would have easily ranked between 3rd and 7th in the NL. So there it is.
August 1, 200521 yr I thought you "Lived for Robinson's Firing . ." LOL The right thing here is to change position :thumbup
August 1, 200521 yr Im just glad we have professionals running this team and not the consensus of MB.com.
August 1, 200521 yr I still don't like him, but I guess I'm indifferent at this point. It isn't coincidental that a few guys (DLee jump to mind) realize their offensive potential away from Robinson's tweaking. However, he can't be fully to blame for our inability to hit with runners on, or our bullpen's inability to hold offenses in the all important 6th-8th innings.

Who are the other guys that realized their potential away from Bill? This team has never hit so well for AVG. Its not Bill's fault that Miggy's AVG with RISP isnt near his overall AVG.
August 1, 200521 yr Bill Robinson stinks. He has accomplished nothing. He should be replaced. But, Jack will probably be uncomfortable with anyone younger than 65. (Looking forward to next year when Jack will not be here. And the only coach worth keeping is Perry Hill.)

Lee really exploded when he left (and I found it interesting that Torborg mentioned, on the Fox broadcast of a Cubs game, that it had a lot to do with having a consistent stance, something Robinson didn't let Lee have...there were always tweaks). While a lot of guys who come here, like Lo Duca and Pudge, have good numbers, but numbers below their career averages. You could make a case that Pro Player just isn't a hitter's ball park, but it just seems that guys have longer slumps here than anywhere else, and that those slumps happen two or three times a season.
August 1, 200521 yr other marlins that need to be stopped being hated upon are mckeon, easly and encarnacion
