Glad we didn't keep him on the roster out of ST.

I'm so perplexed by this, for the life of me I can't imagine someone continuing this illegal behavior after getting caught once. I can only believe A) he had residue from something he used in the past or B) he was using what he believed was a legal nutritional supplement that was unknowingly (to the user) spiked by the manufacturer with a steroid to get the results it promised (which is what I believe happened in Palmiero's case).

 

I remember reading a story a couple of years ago of a company that was making a male enhancement product which had a phenomenal following and it turned out they had gotten their hands on large quantities of the active ingredient in Cialis (from Europe, where it was approved before the FDA approved it here) and had laced this supposed herbal product with it. Of course, it worked wonders for the user!! but not because of the herbs they promoted but rather because it was almost pure Cialis.

 

There have been several instances in the past where manufacturers of "health store" products have done the same thing. The guy, Delgado, and maybe just maybe Palmiero, may have relied on the product information provided and not known the product was laced with something else.

 

Call me naive but it makes no sense since he already had a contract in hand to go down this road.
