August 14, 200520 yr It's amazing how Clemens is miles above everyone else this year.. at his age. He is doing what Pedro did in 1999 and 2000 and Maddux in 1994/1995, yet in a MUCH older age. He's a freak of nature.
August 14, 200520 yr Some may disagree with me and that's fine but to me a true Cy Young candidate has to be able to step up and pitch into the 9th when his team needs to win, and Houston needs to win as many games as possible. Once again, with only 88 PITCHES, Clemens doesnt go out there in the 9th. Is it due to Houston not wanting him to get a run scored against? Because what I saw was.. he was cruising so I did not understand why they took him out.. Clemens has 9 no-decisions so that's also a reason he doesnt have more wins. Clemens may be miles ahead of everyone in the ERA race but besides that.. What's he so better than everyone else at? BAA, WHIP, and ERA right? That's about it. This is just of the top of my head, but I believe Carpenter has more wins, more innings pitched, more complete games, more shutouts, more strikeouts? I think less walks too. Of course I'm trying to believe Carpenter should win but he wont.. Clemens is Clemens..
August 14, 200520 yr Author I love the "only ERA" argument... "But he's only giving up less runs than anyone else in the last 37 years! That's all!" :lol The fact is, in his 13 no decisions/losses, he only has 13 total runs of support. That's just ridiculous. Clemens is having a year that may never be matched. Complete games, IP, strikeouts, whatever.. when your ERA is almost a full run lower than the top contender, it's not even close. When your ERA is on its way to being the lowest ERA in 37 years, you are the clear cut Cy Young winner.. When your opponent's BAA w/RISP is below .100, then you know you're pitching so much better than everyone else. Those are numbers we may never see again. Carpenter is the Cy Young any other year.

He would not say what medication he was taking, and then quickly said the medicine was not causing the problem. Interesting.. What could he possibily be talking about? :lol

August 14, 200520 yr LMAO I never once said he SHOULDNT win it. It may look like it but never once said that. So while my homerism may look like I say Carpenter should win it I didnt say Clemens shouldnt or Carpenter should. I said Clemens is Clemens. That's not good enough?
August 14, 200520 yr If Roger had an offense, he'd probably be 20-2 or something ridiculous like that. Either way, he's going to win the Cy Young in a landslide. He has a friggin 1.32 ERA in mid-August!
