Dont kill me for asking this: but, if Kerry Wood continues to show promise as a reliever, and if he gets favorable experience as a closer, should we pursue him when he becomes a free agent and turn him into our closer? A kid with his stuff could DOMINATE for 1 inning. Any thoughts?

I really don't wanna even answer this but no. He will get a nice nice chunk of change from some team and Marlins have shown that they can go out and find capable closers for cheap the past two years. Not to mention I have my doubts he will be a closer for a long time.

You never know if you can do something if you don't try. And yes, the turnout is s***ty, but the overall idea is probably there. I made one of Yankees 3B prospect(who I really wish we could land somehow) that turned out even worse. Anyhow, Wood is just not physically able to hold down a starters job. He could, however, be a dominant closer(Eric Gagne anyone?) He's making $10 million now(thats a top tier starter salary), give him a 2 year deal with performance based incentives and a mutual option on the 3rd year. $5 million plus incentives over 2 years and a mutual option on a 3rd year is extremely decent for a closer.

Wood will make a lot more then that....get off this Wood kick already.....god....we need to sign AJ not add more crappy talent.
