NFL Power Rankings

Featured Replies

Please post your own as well, I am going to post a chart of the 32 teams for the year and where they shall stand for the upcoming year.

1. Patriots ? Until they are knocked off I can?t move them downwards. They are balanced in all areas of the ball. They have exceptional coaching. They have a dominate defense and a top tier running back. AFC East winners

2. Steelers ? The AFC is still far more powerful then the weak NFC this year. The Steelers shall once more dominate the AFC North. Beating up upon the Browns, the Bengals and yes even the Ravens. Expect the same hard nose defense and solid RB play. AFC North winners

3. Jets ? They shall unfortunately for the Stinking Jets get the WC only because the Pats will win the division. But this team with the addition of Law shall be deadly on defense. Their RB is solid as is their backup. They have a solid line lead by an All-pro center. Their QB play is well and solid as well. Their only weakness is coaching, who is very conservative. AFC WC

4. Vikings ? The NFC North is the weakest division in football this year. Hence the Vikings shall take advantage of that, with a balanced solid team. They have one of the best QB in the league, a solid strong defense. Their only worry is their RB play this year. Even though even that group is solid enough. NFC North Winners

5. Panthers ? The Carolina panthers were so decimated by injuries last year that they looked like the clippers of football. Still they started to put it together and make a run in the end. This team shall continue this strong play before by becoming an Elite team once more like two years ago. Their defense is strong to say the least, lead by Peppers. Their RB situation shall be fine with a trio of Davis, Foster and Shelton. Their addition of Gardner can play a strong role in goal line offensive situations. NFC South Winners

6. Chargers ? This team has a solid team all around. They have a good offensive line, the best Running back in Football to control the line. Plus they have a solid defensive front. Their one weakness is in the secondary. They shall win the AFC West. Prediction AFC West Winners

7. Colts ? How much can Manning throw? That is what comes about for the colts this year once more. They have a solid offense that should be so as long as they keep Edge (the key to that team). But, still their defense can?t stop anyone. If they do not have the lead teams do not have to play catch up and their fast D-line can?t just tee off on the passing plays. This team will win the AFC South though barely.

8. Arizona ? The cardinals are an up and coming team. They have a solid defensive core that could become dominating. A great coach to build with. A good young running back and offensive line. An explosive group of young receivers. The one thing they are missing is a QB. Still the NFC West is the second weakest division in football. Hence they will win the Division title this year there. NFC West winner

9. Eagles ? This team will explode from within this year with TO problems. Chemistry isn?t something I believe in very big normally, but this team will be the picture of it. Still Andy Reid (one of the most underrated coaches in the NFL) will keep the team together enough to barely win the NFC East. Only because the rest of the division is terrible.

10. Falcons ? This team shall be back into the playoffs, but just because their defense and rushing team. Once more they shall be the top rushing team In the NFL. But at the same time they need to consider the possibility of Vick will never be a top 10 QB. He will not fit the new system well, still because the NFC is weak they pull a WC spot. NFC WC for Prediction

11. Chiefs ? With the building up of a defense the Chiefs become a team that will make a difference this year. They have a great back and offensive line. A solid QB and alright receivers. But the additions of Surtain and Knight alone with DJ on defense will be huge. This team will win the last WC spot.

12. Ravens ? A lot of folks have them going to the Super bowl. Well I disagree, even though their defense is a monster. Their offense wont get it done. Boller will continue to cause the fans of the Ravens to want to cry with poor play. The control the field and rush over folks wont work against the solid teams of the AFC. They will fall short of the playoffs by one game.

13. Saints ? Finally the loveable foolish saints will put it together for more then 5-6 games. When they put it together they can be deadly. When they don?t they are terrible. Look for a break out year from their Back after that big contract (with lots and lots of additions for yards, TD?s, etc..) Prediction final NFC WC

14. Bengals ? Another year of Growth for the Bengals. Carson Palmer will grow into a top 10 QB this year. His second year in the league. He will pull the bengals almost into the playoffs with his good solid RB and WR. But they will fall a bit short still with need for more help on the defense. Next year, they should win the AFC North though.

15. Bills ? Their defense is solid enough, their receivers aren?t too terrible either. But, their losses on the Offensive line along with the terrible play of a rookie QB will see them not make the playoffs this year. Give them a year or two and they should be back into the mix.

16. Packers ? For the Gun slingers last year he will give a valiant effort to get into the playoffs. But they will fall a bit short never the less. Their defense has more holes in it then the Cheese the fans wear on their heads. Never the less in a few years that defense will be top notch with their new Defensive coordinator.

17. Jaguars ? This team is on the verge of a break out. But I believe Taylor wont be back fully from his knee injury and still be on the verge of a break out next year. The team needs a bit more work on defense as well.

18. Dolphins ? Very early in the rankings for many but they shall play the spoiler. After a slow start to the year, the Saban pick up will start to show. They will end up ruining more then a few teams with their dual running backs. Plus by the end of the year Hudson Hough, the offensive line coach genius, will have the line playing well. Along with one of the top 5 best receiving cores in the game. They will finish 7-9 to ruin more then a few teams year.

19. Buccaneers ? Another team that was at the bottom last year that shall pick it up. They shall play spoilers as a solid (not great) defense will put up a fight. Along with a few young receivers and a good young back they should end the year upon a terror.

20. Broncos ? The Denver rushing game can only go so far with the Dr Jeckal and Mr Hyde routine of Plummer. Their division is getting tougher and they are not. They shall have problems with bell getting hurt again and Rod smith?s age along with their QB. These factors will force them to miss the playoffs and perhaps start to rebuild.

21. Texans ? A young team that is starting to build up. They shall push it within the AFC south, but the division just has too much talent. They shall work upon their defense some more and add more depth to the offensive line. Then next year make the playoffs for the first time.

22. Raiders ? The team shall put up the numbers on offense. I am not sold on Jordan as the back of the future, but they have a young line built around Gallery. Their receivers are unstoppable. One problem is the same as Indy?s problem. They don?t know what the defensive side of the ball looks like even. They will end up out of it and try to solidify next year.

23. Seahawks ? They have the back (disgruntled) to cause some havock. But this team never seems to show up for the big game. It will be the once more this year. Their receiving core is terrible and never can one be sure what Hasselback will show up each day. Not even to mention their defense.

24. Cowboys ? Another team that has a good young core. But the center of it is an ancient veteran once more that should be out of football. There is a reason that the Bills decided to cut Bledsoe. It was not because they wanted to give the Cowboys a pro bowl QB. It was because he was past his prime by far. The receiving core of the Cowboys needs a major overhaul. Next year they will fix the problems and win the NFC east. But 2005 will be a long year cowboy fans.

25. Rams ? This team seems to have gone from the greatest show on earth to an old folks home. Their offensive line is getting very young at Left Tackle position. Not to mention that their receivers are growing old as well. Along with a still weak defense they will finally start to rebuild.

26. Redskins- Their defense shall keep them close into games and Portis will run the ball a lot. But, they will still not get the old fashion Joe Gibbs magic back yet. They have got a few years before they pick up their play and make a run at this division. Unfortunately their strange draft this year, wont help them.

27. 49ers ? They have made some strides with Gore for the RB position and a good TE and QB of the future. Their defense is mature but cant keep up with the 3 and outs they will have. They will need to go into the draft to keep building. But they will have some progress at least.

28. Lions ? A complete flop of a season for the Lions. By week 3 the fans will call for the head of Harrington. By week 6 they will fall for the head of Garcia. By week 9 they will start to look towards Basketball for comfort. Sorry Lions fans your QB is not going to cut it. Like Boller he doesn?t have the guts or make up. Next year they will pick up a QB and make a run.

29. Giants ? It seems like they were just here last year. Oh yes they were indeed. They would have been here this year as well if Warner hadn?t started out the year. Eli will continue to have growing pains. He is going to be a quality QB, but he isn?t his brother folks. Even his brother had a bad first two years so give him time to grow. Plus his offensive line is terrible, the defense is aging quickly past his prime. The saving grace is Tiki barber. But will he be last year or the fumble machine of the past?

30. Bears ? I feel bad for the bears but seeing as bad luck happens well it sucks to be them. Their defense is solid but their QB situations will cause the whole offense to fall apart. Not a good solid offense for the start even. It will be a game of 8-9-10 men in the box all the time as it is.

31. Browns ? They are growing as a team and if their young TE had not played Daredevil I would of ranked them A lot higher. But, their defense needs work, they need a QB, they need a Left Tackle, they need help in far too many areas. Give them two years and they will be a solid team again though.

32. Titans ? The Titans select for the first pick of the 2006 draft, Matt Leinart of USC. Get ready for those words unless the kid flops this year. Because with their salary cap jettisons it will be coming not too soon for the Titans. Of course they could trade off the pick perhaps to get more help. They have too many problems to mention

Those are my power rankings for the NFL and why for the teams. The AFC shall dominate once more for the next year or two. Then it will start to swing back towards the NFC. The cycle of the NFL always has. But, it should be a good year to see.

14. Bengals ? Another year of Growth for the Bengals. Carson Palmer will grow into a top 10 QB this year. His second year in the league. He will pull the bengals almost into the playoffs with his good solid RB and WR. But they will fall a bit short still with need for more help on the defense. Next year, they should win the NFC North though.

AFC North.

And we will make the playoffs this year. Our offense is too sick (that doesn't even do it justice) and our defense will be better able to catch up with it. We've made some key personnel changes and this is the first year where IF we DON'T make the playoffs you could look back and actually blame it on the coaching staff.

The key is stopping the run and I believe we can do that.

The Jets, Vikings, Chargers, and Panthers are better then the Colts?

Pass over the funny cigarette, I wanna hit that....

Cardinals in the top 10????

Superbowl:

Panthers over Colts

While the Giants do suck, calling their offensive line bad is just non-sensical. They added one of the best FA's on the market Kareem McKenzie, which moves Luke P to his normal position, so it vastly improves two spots. The Giants line was also devastated by injuries last year, devastated. Getting back Shaun O Hara and Chris Snee improves them by leaps and bounds. They should have a good line this year...their pass defense however leaves a lot to be desired.

I also think the Steelers and Pats are not going to be as good as in past years. I imagine we'll see a Panthers/Jets Superbowl.

BTW I swear by my predictions, if I am wrong about anything...records, NFC and AFC championship games, or the Superbowl prediction, everyone on here is free to kick me in the nuts.

I also think the Steelers and Pats are not going to be as good as in past years. I imagine we'll see a Panthers/Jets Superbowl.

We are almost on the same page...Jake Delhomme is a winner(it seems like the QB's from non-bcs schools make the better NFL qbs...Warner, Delhomme, Culpepper, Favre). And, also, I think Michael Vick is the most overrated player in the history of the NFL, as far as being an actual QB, I can think of at least 15 or maybe more I'd take over him and his career 76.9 passer rating.

If the Fins go 4-12, I'll eat a pair of your dirty KKK underwear, Hot_Re_Todd.

19. Buccaneers ? Another team that was at the bottom last year that shall pick it up. They shall play spoilers as a solid (not great) defense will put up a fight. Along with a few young receivers and a good young back they should end the year upon a terror.

I hope we are more then spoilers, but that is a much more positive prediction then any other one that I have seen.

What a minute, you praise the "winner" Delhomme, but then you rip Vick who has hmmm 2 full seasons 2 playoff appearance 2 playoff wins. Delhomme had 1 good year and then went 7-9.

Vick>>>>>>Delhomme by alot, and don't call me a homer, I hate both of them.

Vick as a QB leaves alot to be desired. You do realize Vick has played more games than Jake D right? They have both played 2 FULL seasons, and in Jakes first full season he took the Panthers to the Superbowl. In Michael Vick's first full season he led the Falcons to the divisional playoffs where they got killed by the Eagles. You also fail to mention that last year, Jake's 2nd full year, Davis, Foster, Muhammed, and Steve Smith...his biggest weapons on offense...all missed significant time.

If the Colts want to beat Patriots this year, they must have home field advatange. I don't see the Colts winning at Foxsboro in the middle of January.

15. Bills ? Their defense is solid enough, their receivers aren?t too terrible either. But, their losses on the Offensive line along with the terrible play of a rookie QB will see them not make the playoffs this year. Give them a year or two and they should be back into the mix.

905273[/snapback]

A rookie QB (even though Losman isn't a rookie) really killed the Steelers last year, huh?

The Bills have enough around Losman that he's not going to have to win games by himself, simply not lose them.

They'll win between 8-11 games (I see them at 10-6), depending on their health and other similar factors that are tough to predict in the preseason.

I don't even know where to get started with the rest of your rankings, though to your credit it does look like you put some time into them.

2004:

Delhomme: 310/533 C/A, 58.2 C%, 3866 Yds, 7.29 YPA, 29 TD, 15 INT, 87.3 PR

Vick: 181/321 C/A, 56.4 C%, 2313 Yds, 7.21 YPA, 14 TD, 12 INT, 78.1 PR

So, how is Vick better than Delhomme? Much better production by Jake D through the air. And so you know, I have no problem with Vick, he is exciting to watch, but as far as a passer he is so way overrated it's not even funny. The fact that he is the highest paid QB in NFL history is a slap in the face to the McNabbs, Mannings, Bradys, and Favres out there. And so you know Josh McCown is my favorite QB.

Ok how about you factor in rushing yards?

And he is overrated as a passer, but if you are starting a team today do you take Vick or Delhomme? You take Vick, Vick is better by alot.

If I am starting with a QB I take Delhomme of those 2, becuase he is a QUARTERBACK! Vick is a halfback that throws the ball every now and then.

If I start a franchise, here are the players I start(excluding offensive line).

QB-P.Manning

HB-Ladanian(SP) Tommelson(SP)...his name confounds me lol

FB-Nick Goings possbily, maybe Ruben Droghunes(SP)...I am not a strong speller

WR-Anaquan Boldin

WR-Roy Williams

TE-Jeremy Shockey

If I was taking a QB off of the Falcons, I'd take Schaub. I am not a fan of the running quarterback, if you hadn't noticed. And Vick is a better runner than Delhomme, Delhomme is a superior passer, so it's a wash. McNabb can run too(in fact, he had more rushing yards in college than Vick while both were in Big East play at Syracuse and VaTech, respectively), but you don't see McNabb having to use his feet to keep a drive going. And don't say it's because he has a good recieving corps, because after TO and their previous NFC title game teams, his recieving corps was close to garbage. I just dont like run first/pass second QBs.

The question was Vick or Delhomme not anybody. Good for you if your not a fan of the running quaterback, let me ask you a question when Vick has played 2 of the 3 years they have made the playoffs and went to an NFC title game, the 1 year he got it hurt they sucked. Vick is the most valuable player to his team then any other single player on any other team. Delhomme did take the Panthers to a SB, and Vick took the Falcons to an NFC title game. Is the reason you take Delhomme is because he is white?

No, for the last time, I am not a racist. Race is not a factor in anything for me. I have many black friends, some that I trusted with my life, others that I just drink beer with. Some that are both. I take Delhomme because I, personally, prefer the superior passer. And your ignoring the fact about Delhomme has only been the Panthers QB for 2 FULL SEASONS and has took the team to the Super Bowl. Michael Vick has been the Falcons QB for 2 FULL SEASONS and has taken his team to the NFC title game. I am a fan of neither. You, yourself, take the running QB. It's a matter of preference. So you know, Culpepper and McNabb are both QB's I'd take over Vick as well. I also think Palmer will be a beast in another season or two. And, as I have stated, Josh McCown is my favorite QB. He should of been given the team this year, instead of signing crusty old Kurt Warner.

2004:

Delhomme: 310/533 C/A, 58.2 C%, 3866 Yds, 7.29 YPA, 29 TD, 15 INT, 87.3 PR

Vick: 181/321 C/A, 56.4 C%, 2313 Yds, 7.21 YPA, 14 TD, 12 INT, 78.1 PR

So, how is Vick better than Delhomme?? Much better production by Jake D through the air.? And so you know, I have no problem with Vick, he is exciting to watch, but as far as a passer he is so way overrated it's not even funny.? The fact that he is the highest paid QB in NFL history is a slap in the face to the McNabbs, Mannings, Bradys, and Favres out there.?

No its not. Taking Daunte Culpepper or Payton Manning, taking Mike Vick or Jake Delhomme is a matter of common sense.

Umm, yes it is a matter of preference. If Michael Vick was anything but an average passer, I would hold him in much higher regard. But I want my QB's to be able to throw the ball and do it well a good portion of the time.

No way the Bengals finish behind the Ravens. I don't believe it, won't believe.

They're just predictions. No matter how much you "swear by them." If you were dead-on accurate you'd work for ESPN.

Yep I sure would. How is Palmer looking in workouts so far? Kids got a great future.
