August 27, 200520 yr Per CNN/SI's transaction page, Riedling was called up and Jorgy was sent to AAA. Guess that means Lo Duca is relatively healthy. I was hoping Clontz would get the call.

August 27, 200520 yr If we get the Riedling from the '04 1st half he should be a very valueable addition to the bullpen. His stats from April-July of '04 are: 50 APP, 57.1 IP, 32 K, 24 BB, 3.92 ERA, 4-2 He was doing quite well out of the Cincinnati bullpen until his father passed away. Then he just fell apart. He is far from awful. I can say he was probably thought of as another option as the #5 starter, until Moehler emerged.

August 27, 200520 yr Some think the way he was pitching could be attributed to never having a spring training. Once he came back from his injury, they just threw him in the bullpen instead of giving him some rehab time in the minors. And of course, he pitched like once in his first month after being activated so that didn't help. I think he can help this team.
August 27, 200520 yr I'm sure Jack will only use him in mop up situations. Mota, Alfonseca and Messenger are all pitching much better in set up roles. And Jwns has just been awesome.
August 27, 200520 yr and with Willingham coming back pretty shortly, you have your 3rd catcher in him then again, who knows if there is a spot on the 25 man for him
August 27, 200520 yr Today's the 27th. Five more days and Willingham, who's rehabbing anyways (if the Fish decide to do so) can come back as a September call-up without having to send someone down.
