I'm starting to think that the top lineup the Marlins could put out there offensively is Conine in LF, Encarnacion in CF, Hermida in RF, Cabrera at 3B, and the rest of the regulars.

Juan Pierre's speed is a huge asset but it's useless when he can't get on base. I thought he was gonna turn it around, but he hasn't showed signs that he will.

The batting order would look something like this...

1- Castillo

2- Conine

3- Cabrera

4- Delgado

5- Encarnacion

6- Lo Duca

7- Hermida

8- Gonzalez

9- Pitcher

You could switch Lo Duca and Conine in the lineup.

What do y'all think?

JP is hitting .271 over the past 30 days and his OBP is hovering around .300. It sure as hell isn't anything spectacular, but it's better than messing with the lineup yet again.

If this was earlier in the season, i'd say yes, but we can't be shuffling around the lineup this late in the game, look what happened today.

I think JP needs to stay on the line-up. But JP should not be leading off.

I rather have Castillo, or Hermida leading off

Leading off is about getting on base, with speed being a 2nd priority.

I'd like to see splits on JP's numbers when we win and when we lose.

an OBP of .300 for a leadoff hitter is dreadful. If we were starting a new season I'd say sure let Enc play CF and see what happens. At this point I just don't know... I'd have to see Enc out there for a while before I'm sure I'd be comfortable with him. If it worked out though he'd be great as a CF, since he has a very good arm and would be above average offensively for that position.

Jack sat Lowell and now it's time to sit JP as well. Enc is a very capable CFer. Perhaps a bit less range than JP, but a much better arm.

I'm pretty much in favor of this. Our offense is beyond anemic. Delete one leadoff hitter for the better one in Louie Castillo. This enables us to get some power in the lineup in Hermida, Willingham, etc. and deletes pencil sticks Lowell and Pierre.

I'd like to see splits on JP's numbers when we win and when we lose.

This won't be exact but pretty close:

Juan Pierre

Losses:

.213 ave

.255 obp

Wins:

.280 ave

.360 obp

I'd like to see splits on JP's numbers when we win and when we lose.

I'm willing to bet they'd be very close if not identical to other team's and their leadoff batter.

It's an important spot in the lineup, and thus why he should be there if he can't get the job done. We are one of the rare teams that have more than one adequate option for the role. We should exploit that versatility more often.

I'm strongly in favor of this. Castillo is a better leadoff hitter than JP anyway, and Enc would provide equal, if not better, overall defense than JP in CF and allow Hermida to get on the field.

we tried Enc in CF for a game and that lasted all of an inning(due to his injury) ... wish jack would try it again for the fun of it

that day it was just one of those wild wild Jack nights

but I dont think that JP out of the lineup would change anything
