. . . Soooo . . . Hanley and 3B?
Does Hanley know he hit .243 last season and is crap defensively? Apparently not. I have defended Hanley for so long, but he's a little diva bitch..

Pujols pulling a LeBron?
Who cares if the organization is gonna spend money... It's not our money that they are spending, the ticket prices are already going to be insane, at least give me 5 years of Pujols' steady production (or Fielder)... If Samson claims that they want to re-brand the franchise, then re-brand the culture (whatever that means) and take a shot at something big... otherwise this franchise will be the same as it has always been by the time opening day 2013 comes by.. 5 steady years would leave us with 5 not-so-steady years. That could potentially cripple this organization. I'm tired of thinking about the future the future is now... Pujols will put us on the map, when he starts sucking, I'll deal with it. If it means that we're going to be the laughing stock of the MLB in 2017, so be it (we already are a laughing stock...last place team, horrible attendance and stadium, in-competent FO, and a crazy new logo), So if it means that we will contend with Pujols for the next 5 years and then we'll be crippled I'll take that. We've technically been crippled from 1998 to 2002 and 2006 to now...That's eleven of the franchise's 19 years. When he starts sucking, you'll begin saying how dumb the organization was to not give itself any flexibility, whatsoever. Pujols doesn't guarantee anything, anyway. The Cardinals have a great middle of the lineup (Pujols, Holliday, Berkman) and they're a couple of games away from not making the playoffs. It's about fielding the best possible team. I'm not saying Albert Pujols won't improve this team because he improves every team, but this team isn't just a 1B away from solving all their prayers. For all the sh*t Gaby Sanchez is getting, he's been a 3 WAR player this year. I'd say we have bigger needs. I also seriously don't remember the last time a 10-year deal worked in an organization's favor. You're missing the point. It very well may not be the best baseball move to add a 32 year old first baseman for 10 years. However, this is an organization that could benefit extremely from adding the biggest name in baseball. The organization would be legitimized immeadiately...and TONS of people in South Florida would become Marlins fans (and season-ticket holders) OVERNIGHT. The Yankees and Red Sox etc. don't need that type of impact, but the MARLINS??? Yeah, we do..

Uggla and Hanley get into clubhouse argument
Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla had an argument in the Marlins' clubhouse about Ramirez's early departure from Tuesday's game due to a hamstring injury. Uggla accused Ramirez of not caring about the team because he has a $70 million contract, while Ramirez feels insulted by some teammates' belief that he faked an injury to preserve his league-leading .355 batting average in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. There are clearly some chemistry issues at play in the Marlins' clubhouse, but it shouldn't affect Ramirez or Uggla from a fantasy standpoint. -rotoworld uggla is a joke and I really hope heis gone next season. He appears to not care about the team with his half ass defense and his terrible swings.

4/29 -- Dodgers @ Marlins
NOBODY SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT HANLEY NOT CHARGING FOR THAT WEAK GROUNDER?? Stop blaming Miller for everything, the defense has been ridiculously poor today.
-
4/29 -- Dodgers @ Marlins
Okay now he's just getting hit but our defense messed him up tonight.
-
4/29 -- Dodgers @ Marlins
This is what crappy fielding does.
-
4/29 -- Dodgers @ Marlins
Damn did Andrew Miller f*ck everyone's girlfriends or something?
-
4/26 Marlins @ Brewers - 7:05 PM
How many SOLO HR's do we have to watch Hanley hit till we move him down in the order so we might be able to pick up more runs with those shots?

Just listening to the guy on 790 on the way back home
Sports radio sucks... Except, of course, if you are listening to myself and Yiky Quintana on WQBA 1140.

Fredi
dan uggla does not and should not bunt. i had this problem with girardi. i thought he should tell people to bunt when people were on base just so they got a better shot at getting a run. but then i realized i was wrong. you know what gives em a better shot at a run? a potential single, double, triple, homer.... you're wrong, sorry. Dan Uggla is a .240 hitter. You're going to be waiting a while for a potential single, double, triple, homer. And I think it's more the situation. 6th inning of a tie game. We need to scratch out a run. We have shown this year that scoring runs won't come easy. But nevermind, you're right. let's keep waiting for WALK-OFF HR's to bail us out.
-
Fredi
Fredi Gonzalez is not a good manager. He doesn't even manage games, he sits on his ass and waits for the long ball to bail him out. SITUATION... Runners on first and second (Hanley and Andino, respectively), NO OUTS, 6th Inning, Tie Game, Dan Uggla the #2 hitter is up... What should you do? Ask Uggla to BUNT! That would leave runners on second and third with one out and the #3 and #4 hitters coming up. All you need is a sac fly or possibly even a grounder. Not only that, runners on second and third negates the double play possibillity. WHAT DOES FREDI DO? NOT A DAMN THING. Let's Uggla go up there and try to hit. What happens? Uggla pops up. No runners advance. Next batter? Jacobs grounds into an inning-ending double play. Fredi Gonzalez's conecpt of not moving runners (on steals, bunts, etc.) because he doesn't want to "give away outs" is well, STUPID. Especially considering the lineup the Marlins have. Our team gives away outs by going up to bat! We need to start manufacturing runs by moving runners and creating pressure. Oh, and Amezaga needs to be starting every day. He didn't do much tonight in the box score 0-2, 2 walks. But he is the only batter we have who knows how to work a count and take pitches. He had an AB that was about 13 pitches against Morris and ended up drawing the walk. It seems like every other hitter we have (especially Uggla) just goes up there and hacks at the first three pitches.

How do you pronounce FeLo?
:plain

Second Guessing: Why not walk David Wright
And by walking Wright, you have a force out at any base. I don't like Girardi's managing skills at all...

Marlins in hunt for vet 2nd basemen?
I wonder why don't they just focus on Uggla, I thought he was doing good. hitting .217 with an OBP of .245 and SLG .326 Well if you wanna go by stats so far this spring that kid Miguel whats-his-face is batting .143 and everyone's rookie of the year is below the Mendoza line as well. That's why spring training stats aren't the be all and end all of player evaluation this time of the year. They are proven. Uggla is not. He's also a liability on defense. I say we should definitely go after a veteran 2nd baseman.

Marlins Moments
Nothing beats Lenny Harris vs. Gagne...

SAMMY SOSA
I don't like Sammy. And he most likely is completely wahsed up. But we don't really have a viable option for the LF spot so we might as well bring in a guy who can put some fans in the seats(some people still like him right?) if we can get him cheap.

Joe Girardi article
The date was June 25. The place was Pro Player Stadium. Girardi was catching for the Chicago Cubs. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Cliff Floyd connected on a game-winning home run that capped off a series sweep of the Cubs. Floyd waltzed around the bases, finally arriving at home plate where he was engulfed by his giddy teammates. Girardi was so incensed by the spectacle that inside the Cubs clubhouse afterward he told a reporter that what the Marlins did was ``bad.'' ''I think, for a young team, they have an arrogance about them,'' the miffed catcher said afterward. ``They've got a lot of flair to them for a bunch of kids who haven't won anything.'' To which Boles replied: ``Anybody who criticizes that, well forgive me for feeling good about ourselves for six seconds after a walk-off victory. Joe Girardi has been playing for the world champion Yankees and, without having been in our shoes, he might want to hold off on criticism.'' Boles went on to say that he hoped Girardi never had to endure the misery that the Marlins had gone through. That was nearly six years ago. Now, Girardi stands to inherit a team that could be equally as inept. And he hasn't changed his philosophy. He said if a Marlin hits a walk-off home run, he doesn't want them erupting like a bunch of Little Leaguers and swarming the field as if they have just won the seventh game of the World Series. ''I remember,'' Girardi said of the 2000 incident. ``But I want players to act like they've done it before. I still think you've got to do it the right way. I don't ever want to give a club any more of a reason to beat us than just the normal competition. They can celebrate, but it doesn't have to be excessive.'' Girardi said he will allow his players to celebrate dramatic victories, but would prefer the revelry be contained to the clubhouse. That's only one of his rules. The new manager is also ordering all players to shave. No facial hair allowed. ''I'm old school,'' he said. Outgoing manager Jack McKeon was also called''old school.'' But McKeon wasn't fussy about mustaches , and while he secretly confided to reporters that he wasn't one for on-field frolicking, he didn't put out an edict banning it. ''I want players to be excited,'' Girardi said. ``But the key is you act like you've done it before, you're not surprised by it, and it's something you can do at any time. Go out and shake hands, but jump up and down in the clubhouse. Celebrate on our terms.'' :thumbdown Are you kidding me? We are not the f*cking Yankees Joe. I hate this guy already...

Put on ESPN now! Marlins talk on PTI about raising ticket prices
The ticket prices will probably keep on climbing until they meet the MLB average. I hate it how they always play this card. If what you're interested in is growing your fanbase, you need to provide incentives to bring them to the stadium. If they wanted to keep this franchise here, they wouldn't be milking the few fans they have left after every PR disaster they make. I guess winning a World Series and being in three straight pennant races isn't enough incentive. South Florida is much wealthier than some other fan bases, so I don't know what's up with all of these excuses. Deal with it. Cleveland has the highest poverty rate among America's big cities, according to newly-released Census data. Cleveland experienced the "highest poverty rate among America's big cities last year, with nearly a third of its people in poverty, according to new figures released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau." Among the five poorest U.S. cities: Newark, NJ; Detroit, MI; Frenso, CA; and Miami, FL. http://www.planetizen.com/node/14142

What we're replacing
Hanley: .280, 3, 40 Conine: .280, 9, 65 Jacobs: .270, 18, 75 Hermida: .285, 20, 85 Willingham: .300, 10, 65 Cabrera: .330, 40, 120 2B: .270, 5, 40 CF: .270, 5, 40 This is a really rough estimate, but the total comes to: HR: 110 RBI: 530 Somehow we end up with a more powerful offense....Hmm....But honestly, those numbers seem accurate to me. Hermy can easily get 20 with his pop, and Jacobs has the pop too. Willy and Niner get some here and there, and Cabs can get 40, no doubt. RBI numbers might be off a little, but who really knows.. Average BA is around .285....That seems off Jacobs and Hermy can both get 30/100 stats, but not this year. They both need more time in the bigs, I think. More like... Hanley: .260 Jacobs: .257 Hermida: .275 Willingham: .250 Cabrera: .295 2B: .225 CF: .230

For those who can think rationally, won't next year be fun to watc
I would be very excited to watch the Marlins next year if I knew they were staying in South Florida. Other than that, I would be depressed watching them, knowning all this young talent is going to grow up and another city is going to reap the benefits. F*ck that.

If we trade every star for one of the best prospects in the game
Well, you know they'll have a lot of talent. They'll just make a lot of stupid mistakes that will cost them games and win some other games just by making you go "wow." Hmm, sounds exactly like last year's team.
-
Dontrelle on Quite Frankly
Everything above South Florida is CRAP. That's the difference.

Girardi evaluates our roster, prospects, etc.
LOL. "They have some holes to be filled," Girardi said. "But there's some talent there." You call that evaluating our roster? That is the most obvious statement ever. I want Fredi. Joe Girardi has spent too much time in the AL.

An unappreciative bunch
