Does anyone have any articles or anything on his thoughts other than the constant "Im the team's shortstop" responses? I am concerned, especially with the attitude he displays.

I'm pretty sure the FO had all of this ironed out w/ Hanley before committing $100M+ to Reyes, don't you think?

I would hope so but nothing comes up on his thoughts, they never bring it up or quote him in any of the articles about the signing of reyes

They should hold a press conference on this. The press is pushing that last Hanley interview at that fundraiser but Are failing to push the earlier responses that pointed positive.

If marlins sign pujols I think that Hanley will eventually be traded , not this year ,because of the opening of the new ballpark ,but certainly next year , specially if he has a good season .....

Just make the damn move and try to be a damn good 3rd basemen and have pride in that position since all the talking heads keep bringing up "pride"

He'll be fine... he's not moving for a scrub, he's moving for a mega star and his countryman and friend... there's too many signs that say he'll be fine with the move. The only thing that says he wouldnt be fine is the media stirring the pot based on rumors and insinuations.

That's what Im thinking. You would have to be a super idiot to not include you franchise "face" in those conversations. It makes no sense.

Hanley should remain at SS. That's his position. Reyes is coming to HIS team.

I read somewhere yesterday to think of this as a Jeter/A-Rod situation with Hanley and Reyes having a friendly competition on the left side of the infield with the difference being "Hanley and Reyes actually like each other." Difference here is Jeter was the incumbent shortstop and A-Rod had to convert to third base so the captain could stay put. In this case, the incumbent shortstop is being asked to (and reportedly agreed) to switch positions to accommodate an incoming player who will make more money. Only time will tell how this turns out.

On that same deal, A-Rod was willing to move to third - Hanley, now we're hearing, is supposedly still iffy about moving. However, if this will be handled professionally, then great. Hopefully we'll find an awesome compromise.

Honestly, I think Loria and the Marlins FO spoiled Hanley early on. This came to me in wake of the booting the ball/badmouthing Fredi meltdown a few years ago.

 

I thought back to Spring Training a few months after they gave him his big deal. There was a photo of Loria and Hanley sitting at a picnic table, and Loria had just given Hanley some giant piece of bling. Hanley was REALLY young at the time. Looking back at that, I feel like Loria & Co. have given Hanley preferential treatment to the point where, at least two years ago, he thought his sh*t didn't stink -- and it all culminated in that ball-booting fiasco.

 

Basically I think Loria played a part in boosting Hanley's ego -- and not in a good way.
