Distraught? What is he freaking out about moving positions or is he mad about it? I can easily see him not happy and mad about moving positions though. I am sure his ego has taken a little bit of a hit. Really what player wouldn't be upset with being told yeah we got a guy we think is better so move, very few imo. Hopefully he doesn't make this a fiasco.

Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post was told by a source that Hanley Ramirez is "distraught" over the Jose Reyes signing.

 

Most reports have indicated that Ramirez isn't happy about having to move to third base, but this report has been the strongest yet describing the long-time Marlin's displeasure. President of baseball operations Admin Beinfest doesn't seem to think it will be an issue. "Hanley wants to win and we'd like to provide the pieces around him to help him win," Beinfest said. "I think Hanley can play anywhere on a baseball field. That's the kind of talent he is." If Ramirez is really "distraught," then perhaps the Marlins will consider trading him, but as of now they have no plans to do so.

This is sh*t. Assuming he didn't explicitly tell Beinfest that he really didn't want to move from SS, he's being a little bitch right now if he is really 'distraught.' The reports were out there that the Marlins were into Reyes - how can this possibly be something that wasn't dealt with beforehand?

So Hanley is distraught about having to swtich positions, but seemingly isnt bothered that he's no longer the highest paid player on the team.

I'm sure the team has been in touch with Hanley's agent throughout this whole thing. The "face of the franchise" type thing. And they have also been pretty emphatic and vocal about wanting Reyes here. Hanley and his agent(s) can read. So it has got to be known by all concerned parties that Plan A is to move Hanley to 3B. Plan B would be to move (trade) Hanley. The media is trying to fill up some dead air time on the first, and probably the slowest, day of the Winter Meetings. Causing a little controversy is the "best" way to do that. Keeps the audience glued to their sets, so to speak. There is no real drama. The bottom line is that Hanley wants to be here, or he dosen't. End of story. As fans our only real concern is did this signing improve the team at the SS position. And I believe it did. Our second, or Plan B concern, is does the trade concerning Hanley improve this team. Hopefully we don't get to Plan B, but if we do...............
