December 6, 201114 yr I'm sure the team talked about it with Hanley. either a) Hanley said it was fine, it's still fine, and the media's just blowing stuff out of proportion, b) Hanley said it was fine, but now has decided to throw a fit, c) Hanley didn't like the idea, but the FO decided to say screw Hanley and go get Reyes anyway. d) the FO never discussed it with Hanley because they're the boss and Hanley should just step in line. most likely to least likely
December 6, 201114 yr #Marlins official just told me Hanley Ramirez has NOT asked to be traded -Capozzi sure, but this info isnt coming from nowhere. it all fits with his history of being a baby so i dont find it that hard to believe. hes handling it in a juvenile matter by leaking it to the media. So you say they information isn't coming from anywhere but in the same post you say hes leaking it on purpose. That makes no logical sense.
December 6, 201114 yr You guys need to stop reading every negative tweet about hanley and taking it as fact. The media LOVES DRAMA. They practically exist because of it. Twitter + winter meetings = awesome entertainment
December 6, 201114 yr I honestly wouldn't mind trading Hanley. It makes that payroll bearable down the road when people like LoMo and Stanton begin to hit arbitration. Either way this works out is fine by me.

Im saying the media isnt making it up and Hanleys leaking it through his friends or agent or whoevers around him. im saying the leaked info is coming from somewhere, ie his camp. read through carefully.
December 6, 201114 yr I really don't care what Hanley thinks. If he wants to be a part of something that could be special, then he can move to third. If he doesn't, oh well, we'll get a great package in return for him and we actually have a shortstop who can now field his position properly.

Another possibility would be that they talked with him and he was excited about the possibility of playing with reyes and wanted to encourage the FO to make a move so he stated that he'd be fine with it ......... but maybe didn't believe they would actually grab him now that it's a reality he's thinking a bit harder about it, or has someone in his ear, etc it's not unusual to casually be supportive of something that you don't think will actually happen in an effort to look like a supportive person
December 6, 201114 yr lmao @ the earlier statement that Hanley has earned the abiltiy to play SS. In all my life of playing baseball I've never understood the obsession with playing SS. Hanley earns his salary by doing what the team tells him to do. If he doesn't like it his only remedy is to bitch. Which he can exercise at the risk of looking like a dumbass and worse being dealt to shittown USA. If he doesn't like 3B he better be ready to play in KC or Seattle because he has NO leverage.
December 6, 201114 yr I honestly wouldn't mind trading Hanley. It makes that payroll bearable down the road when people like LoMo and Stanton begin to hit arbitration. Either way this works out is fine by me. What's going to make payroll bearable is not offering no trade clauses and then unloading the recent signings (or Hanley) once this team put together for the launch of the new stadium has run it's course.
December 6, 201114 yr lmao @ the earlier statement that Hanley has earned the abiltiy to play SS. In all my life of playing baseball I've never understood the obsession with playing SS. It's because he'll get paid higher over his career and his offensive numbers would be much more respected at SS than putting up the exact some numbers, or even better, by playing short. Being a great hitter for a short stop and a pretty good hitter for a third basemen could be the difference between a good career and a HOF career. But it does bear mentioning that Hanley just isn't a very good fielding SS.
December 6, 201114 yr You cant prove the opposite either other than to arbitrarily say that the unnamed sources saying Hanley is perfectly happy are somehow more reliable than the unnamed sources saying he isnt. If the media makes sh*t up all the time, then cant the side claiming everythings fine be making it up too? Im looking at past behavior and the other info leaked throughout the offseason. it seems to make sense given hanleys propensity to be a baby.

What's going to make payroll bearable is not offering no trade clauses and then unloading the recent signings (or Hanley) once this team put together for the launch of the new stadium has run it's course. Teams don't make money from short term moves like the one you are implying they are going to try to pull. This team has been making money hand over fist the last 3 years. You only deviate from that course of conduct if you have a legit long term plan for making money, big time money. I have no doubt in my mind that the FO thinks they can make Red Sox/Yankees coin through Latin America. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen.
December 6, 201114 yr Check it out: Hanley himself saying he likes it @ThisIsChucker Hanley responded to a fan HIMSELF that "he likes it" in response to adding Pujols & Reyeshttp://pic.twitter.com/ev4nB4JI
December 6, 201114 yr yep Also if you look at where Hanley has taken his individual development the past few years he's been trying to add some bulk, hit with more power, make a run in the HR derby ...... despite the luster of playing SS and the significance of signing his rival of sorts at SS I think they'll convince him that it's for his best interest to switch add some bulk, your frame is better for 3B, people will focus more on what you bring as opposed to blowing up any individual miscue at SS, two speedy guys getting on base and putting you in a position for success with power behind you as well, with that power behind you there will be less times that you need to run on the base paths helping you prevent those type of injuries (which you have had) this has nothing to do about how well you defend or how well you play SS - you have the frame, athleticism & power to make a switch that most people cannot do remember that Ozzie convinced and led the charge to have a young prospect to make the switch from SS to 3B once before ... a minor league player who would eventually come up and play the OF before settling back into 3B later in his career ....... ask hanley how dangerous Miguel Cabrera would be if he had to maintain the frame and physical pounding of playing SS his whole career - would he be the MVP candidate like he's been the past few seasons? ......... tell him his power is too valuable to have at SS and they need him to bring his bat to 3B to go with the other power producing positions

I read carefully but you quoted something that said we had not been asked by Hanley for a trade then you immediately said that information isnt coming from nowhere. It made it sound like you were discounting the quote. Then you stylites talking about Hanley complaining .

Huh, funnily enough, they do.

But the other years his OPS was around .850, which was still pretty darn good regardless of position, but not HOF caliber at third or anything.

Completely the same as the current situation
