September 12, 200520 yr I know its kinda early to be thinking this but... Are the Marlins going to go out and find another starter or are we just going to bring one up from the minors.. September 12, 200520 yr Vargas, Willis, and Beckett will be in the starting on opening day. The remaining two spots will probably see Oslen or Johnson along with an affordable veteran. Jason Johnson and Olsen may a little iffy to start the season with. I think Jason Johnson would do well in Florida.
September 12, 200520 yr Dontrelle Willis Josh Beckett Jason Vargas Tony Armas Jr. Scott Olsen 941417 lots of lefties :whistle
September 12, 200520 yr Clemens. :mischief 941406 $18 million :plain But yeah, Clemens: :mischief
September 12, 200520 yr Let's get that AJ guy. I've heard really good things about him. My friend says he's a really good people-person, and knows how to relate to the fans
September 12, 200520 yr "George Bush doesn't care about the Florida Marlins" Why do you say that, LeftyPower? :confused
September 12, 200520 yr "George Bush doesn't care about the Florida Marlins" Why do you say that, LeftyPower? :confused 941645 Wow, that was very pitiful...Have I offended you or something?
September 12, 200520 yr Truth be told, I wouldn't mind havin Mark Redman back.. sure, his 88 MPH fastball ain't great, but he did good for us in 2003, if I recall correctly.. well, from when I started watching from Mid-June on..
September 12, 200520 yr Well, Beckett and D Train will be the veteran presence that we need. I think we can continue with the youth movement (as always), and truly set up a rotation for the future.. We tried something similar in '00 when we had Dempster, Burnett, Penny and Tejera (ya, remember that). But obviously nothing worked out. Beckett and D Trian are locks for a little while at least, and if we can immerse Olsen, Vargas, Johnson, and eventually Allison/Kensing to replace Beckett (good as gone first chance he gets).
September 12, 200520 yr Joe Mays is as good as gone from Minnesota and I think he would be a good pick up. His stats aren't great this year but it's his first year back from Tommy John surgery so he's likely going to be cheap. It's pretty common for players to struggle their first year back. He's also a groundball pitcher and with our defense behind him he'd be fine.

You haven't offended me, I was just curious and wanted to know why your sig. says "George Bush doeesn't care about the Florida Marlins"
September 12, 200520 yr Brett Tomko is a guy I like. 941685 Tomko sucks....he's only good against us.

September 12, 200520 yr Brett Tomko is a guy I like. 941685 Tomko sucks....he's only good against us. 941839 ..and that's your opinion. I like the guy. Throws hard and pitches well down the stretch. I think he'd be a good middle of the rotation guy. And thats my opinion.
September 12, 200520 yr It's true, George Bush really doesn't like the Florida Marlins. Otherwise he would have mobilized FEMA quicker when Al Leiter began stinking the joint out and then when Beckett's blister came back. The response was slow and inadequate. I mean why else are we still waiting to get the funding gap for the new stadium filled? Don't you know, everything is George Bush's fault.
