Is AJ Burnett really worth 12-15 million per year?

Featured Replies

There are four teams at the moment atht would like Burnett, there probably will be more suitors. Well, atleast none are from the NL east, even though he actually is under 500 against the NL east. That is insane, well atleast the Marlins will not get sucked up into over paying him. Heck, Pedro got 13 million, a future hall of famer. I think we can replace him with someone cheaper, I know we can find someone who can win 12-13 games for alot cheaper than 12-15 million a year. Here is the link of some marlins news and articles.

What do you guys think?

Yankee's will pay. That's why their GM's name is "Cash"man.

No they won't

Odds are a team like Detroit or Toronto will give him big money

You think AJ will go to a Detroit or Toronto? He already bitches about poor fan support down here. He wants to pitch in front of sellouts. So if it comes down to the Sox, Yanks, or Tigers.... he is choosing the former.

Yup, I agree...well, at least they'll give him the best offer. And in terms of being worth $12-15? He won't get that much. If he pitches like the AJ of July and August, mixing in his sinker, curve, and change, he'll definitely be worth whatever money he gets.

No he's not, and that's why he's not going to get it.

The real question is "is AJ worth 4 years and $36 million?"

NO X 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :mad :mad :mad

Considering his talent, the free agent market for starting pitchers, performance, and current starting pitcher's salaries, AJ Burnett is absolutely worth 12-15 million. I wish the Marlins could re-sign him, but that is a pipe dream.

Ummm....???

Talentwise yes, production no. Which are you paying for? I'd pay for the production. I'd probably give him 8 mil, tops.

Cashman is gone after this season, most likely by his own choice.

I'm sure he wants to be a real GM, not George's lapdog.

And I wouldn't give AJ more than the 3/21 we offered Pavano.

Nice to see AJ bring his "A" game to the most important game in his career. :plain

Sure he's worth every bit of $12M per year. :plain

Too bad this game isn't nationally televised so he could get all the press he deserves. :plain

How could the fans not all clamour to go the ballpark when he pitches. What's wrong with all these fans? :plain

I doubt the Yankees are going to want a pitcher that chokes in big games. He keeps up this pace he can forget about NY.

Yankees got burned on Pavano. I doubt they throw money at another Florida pitcher with a spotty history two off-seasons in a row.
