September 24, 200521 yr Who would you take Carlos Delgado and Paul Lo Duca or Derek Lee and Pudge of 2003? Who would you take Todd Jones or Armando Benitez, when Benitez was a Marlin?
September 24, 200521 yr id definitley take pudge and deelee. MVLee posted similar numbers to delgado with 30 hr and 100+ rbi and he plays gold glove deefense and he steals 20 bases ayear. i love delgado and hes been absolutely clutch and great ll year where as dlee was more streaky hitter, but id still take dlee because he is more well rounded. and pudge = more homers mor rbi and he completely shuts down the running game.... he brought so much excitement and fire to this team.... he was so cool in game 4 of the nlds *drifts off into a reverie about the collision at the plate* even though dookkie has been clutch. id take tj= less $$$$$$$$ same result ......... GAME OVER .... GAGNE STYLE!
September 24, 200521 yr Todd Jones is having a good season, but Benitez is just so much more dominant. Todd Jones can close out a game in the 9th, but he has proven time and time again that he CANNOT come into a situation with the winning run on 3rd or some other clutch situation and get the job done like Benitez was able to in those situations. Remember that clutch save Benitez got in Philly last season where he came into the game bases loaded with a 3-0 count and HAD to throw a strike? Benitez got it done, Todd Jones wouldn't be able to close out a game like that in his dreams. And i'd take Delgado and a healthy Lo Duca over Pudge/D-Lee.
September 24, 200521 yr To those who pick Todd Jones: Bases Loaded, One Out, 3-1 count, Phillies batting in the bottom of the 8th and Benitez is summoned. End of conversation.
September 24, 200521 yr Author I don't know Pudge was a strong leader in our clubhouse. Also he was really clutch. But, Lo Duca is a tough guy he leads by example. I think I would take Pudge just because of all the gold gloves and his career batting average. I think Derek Lee would not have had a breakout such as he is now offensively. I think in that category Carlos Delgado is the winner. I mean Derek Lee would not have hit a huge amount of HR's in Dolphin Stadium. Carlos Delgado has ruthian power. Benitez is all I have to say the guy was unhittable last year I would take him over Todd Jones any day he's nasty.
September 24, 200521 yr Pudge is far better than Lo Duca. Delgado vs. DLee is kind of a wash. But yeah, Pudge/DLee. Jones vs. Benitez? No clue. I have no complaints about either.
September 24, 200521 yr no question. Pudge, DLee Jones and Benetiz have their strengths but are different pitchers. The latter came into his own in Miami
September 24, 200521 yr Pudge and DLee. We'd have much better defense for about the same offense. No doubt I would have liked to see us keep Benitez last year.
September 24, 200521 yr Pudge and D Lee. In in the end, it's all about who has proven they can win when it counts. Niether Carlos or Duca have a ring.
September 25, 200521 yr Pudge and D Lee. In in the end, it's all about who has proven they can win when it counts. Niether Carlos or Duca have a ring. By no fault of their own. Pudge and Lee hadn't won a WS either prior to 2003, so they weren't proven winners then, yet still won the WS that year. IMO, playoff experience is overrated. I'd go with Delgado/Lo Duca. Lee wouldn't be putting up those type of numbers here, and the difference between Delgado and Lee (assuming he'd be playing here)>Pudge (and his .293 on-base percentage) and Lo Duca. And Benitez over Jones, easily.
September 25, 200521 yr To those who pick Todd Jones: Bases Loaded, One Out, 3-1 count, Phillies batting in the bottom of the 8th and Benitez is summoned. End of conversation. One of my favorite games of that year. Conine hit a home run too.
