Who should be at SS?

Featured Replies

never happen

If you're suggesting Cabs can't play SS anymore, you're wrong.

If you're saying that they won't play him at SS, you're correct.

Why not? Is it because Mckeon would never go for it or is it because you can't see Cabrera playing SS?

Did you just rephrase the EXACT same thing I just wrote? :lol

because Cabs will not play SS again...

im sure he can, but he is now an OFer....

In Desperate times people will do anything. If we can have a hard time scoring in Coors and Gonzalez can't buy a hit I can see Mckeon pulling the trigger to spice up this offense.

I didn't know we were in desperate times.

I should of rephrased that to Alex Gonzalez is Desperate. Seriously we should have a poll on which day will Alex Gonzalez get his next hit. I predict Sep 3

I just can't believe Alex's average had dropped under . 270

I can see Mckeon pulling the trigger to spice up this offense.

i dont think the FO would allow it

Even after his HR tonite, I still think that AGon needs to go....

Before you cry and whine, think about it. He had 4 or 5 good months his AS season then faded, and two good months this year and faded. That's it. Although I bought into all the talk about potential and him getting back to the performances of his AS year, I'm beginning to think that his current performance is the standard, not the aberration everyone makes it out to be.

And no, this isn't piling on a guy in a little slump. His Ave. has went down every month after May, and he's in the bottom five in BA over both the last two months and in the current month of August. The guy is shot, and with the Marlins' offense performing mediocre at best, they can ill-afford to let the guy make 3 or 4 outs a game just for his defense.

And we all know that A-Gon is better than Fox.

Offensively? Ummm, no we don't. All Fox has to do is bat at a better clip than the .182 AGon is cruising through August with to outperform him. I think that's possible, no, probable.

Alex Gonzalez, despite the fact that his batting average has gone down every single month this year, is still better than Fox, Mordecai, or Harris.

exactly. the problem here isn't so much that Alex is struggling, but that we don't exactly have a bat off the bench that's measurably better than him. Fox hit .250 last year at short. Mordy's not any better either. They can give you the occasional hit, but that's it. Plus you're losing his defense at short....

Well he hit a homer today to Tie the game. I hope that breaks his slump, He should work with Someone before games to get out of this BIG slump he is or was in....

I don't care if the guy was a double amputee at SS if he's bat .250.

What makes it worse is AGon's place in the line-up. Regardless of Cabs' getting hot as of late, the 6 through nine hitters in this line-up ar the baseball equivilant of a steamy pile of peanut filled crap. Lee is around .255, AGon is around the same, and then the P.

It's like giving up 8-12 outs a game right off the bat.

Alex Gonzalez is much better than Fox could ever hope to be....

You got that right. Mordy and Fox never get hits. Did you see todays game when fox was on deck pinch hitting for Penny with RISP and McKeon replaced him with Castro....that shows you that no one trustes him.

you idiot, Fox was on deck and would have hit if no one was on base

then when someone reached, Castro was put there because he can hit one out

Here is how sad it is....Fox is on the team because he stands on the side of the plate closest to 1B when he "bats". Oh, and he can play a variety of infield positions. Alex Gonzalez can hit (he's in a slump, but is still a better hitter than Mordi and Fox), and has great (not just solid like Fox and Mordi) defense.

he's in a freakin slump! It's not like he always bats .100

You are right, he doesn't bat .100. He's batting .182 in August, and around .195 in July.... and under .210 for June, and so on and so forth......

My point is this: You can't write this off as a little slump that he needs to "get through" or "work with somebody on". This is the real A Gon. This is the way he has performed for better than 70 percent of his MLB career. He's broke, Go take him back and get a new one.

I dont know about this board (I didnt join till this season), but everyday on ESPN.com boards, it was sickening to sit there on the board and discuss Andy "Sux" (I think JTMoney came up with that one?), and how much he, well, sucks.
