anybody else think that mrs. Logan could have killed Cummings?

No, because that's what they want you to think.

No, but I'm not sure Novick didn't arrange for someone else to kill him.

The Kim article in USA Today is misleading, but she's supposed to come back sometime soon (along with a few other old cast members and some freshly introduced ones).

Tonight's episdoe was much better than last week's, and next week's looks awesome, with Jack breaking away from custody (with the help of Curtis?) and all.

----------SPOILER WARNING-------------------

Here is some spoiler information, published by FOX....

Elisha Cuthbert and William Devane return, joined by newcomers C. Thomas Howell (The Outsiders) and Ray Wise (Good Night, And Good Luck) as "Day Five" intensifies on 24. The nonstop fifth season continues Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and will clock in with a special two-hour event Monday, March 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In a day where he was implicated in the President's assassination, held hostage at the airport, and is following leads to terrorists armed with 20 canisters of military-grade nerve gas, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) has had little time to put the pieces of his personal life back together. Recently reunited with former lover Audrey Raines (Kim Raver), Bauer enlists her help to reestablish communication with his daughter, Kim (Cuthbert). When Kim reenters Jack's life, she does so with her trusted friend Barry Landes (Howell), a therapist who attempts to simmer down a boiling situation. Meanwhile, leadership issues continue to tangle the Administration, and Vice President Hal Gardner (Wise) and Secretary of Defense James Heller (Devane) join the cause against the terrifying situation.

The nonstop season accelerates with a special two-hour event, "Day 5: 5:00 PM-6:00 PM"/"Day 5: 6:00 PM-7:00 PM," airing Monday, March 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Agent Bauer deals with Christopher Henderson (Peter Weller), the defected federal agent who recruited Jack to counterterrorist work more than a decade ago, along with his wife Miriam (JoBeth Williams). The back-to-back episodes also feature President Logan (Gregory Itzin) muddling through more intense and iffy decisions while CTU commanders Lynn McGill (Sean Astin) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) redefine roles.

-------------END SPOILERS----------

Best episode, IMO, since the season premier.

Logan is an annoying weasel (the actor playing him is doing a great job), but I find the show more compelling with him than Palmer (still a very good character), who could always be counted on to "do the right thing." With Logan he's primarily concerned about his image, so he might go against Jack/CTU/what seems like the best interest of the people, which I think helps the show rather than having someone who seems to be the perfect President, which got stale after awhile, for me at least.

Rudy is approaching Logan on the annoying scale as well.

I'm most interested now to see who the other people working in the government Nathanson mentioned are.

"If you carry out that command, I will draw my weapon"

- Curtis Manning

Thats my boy, Curtis taking some charge, I cant wait till next week!

Logan is a p*ssy who can't make a tough decision by himself to save his life. McGill is an angry annoying little hobbit who is ready to have a meltdown. Cloe appears ready to have a nervous breakdown everytime something bad happens or Jack calls her with McGill near by. The look on her face when things are going bad is absolutely priceless. :lol

Yeah, I definitely am looking forward to the Curtis-Lynn showdown. That missing keycard is going to come back to haunt Lynn.

Ya, thats the reason that he started to get all protective and paranoid and put Buchannon in holding. That man is one screwed little hobbit.

I'm most interested now to see who the other people working in the government Nathanson mentioned are.

My money is on William Devane, Audrey's dad, Secretary of Defense Heller. He's supposed to be back in the next couple of episodes and the chip that Nathanson gave to Jack had DoD encryption.

Yep, I'm betting on him too (possibly in cahoots with the soon to be introduced VP). If they play that out right, it'll be fantastic - they haven't ever really made someone a hero one season and a villain the next.

Plus, I could definitely see Heller falling for the "We are Patriots!" line of Cummings/Nathanson.

Yeah, that was easily the best episode since the premier.

Logan might be the best thing about this season. To a large degree, 24 has gotten stale for me. But the one thing they have excelled at (and rather unexpectedly) is coming up with these strange characters...like Logan, Chloe, Edgar. You won't get characters like this on any other show. And for the most part they manage to stay believable. So, while much of the time, I feel like they're just going through the motions, having people like Logan around keeps me interested.

And I happen to agree with his decision this time around. I don't care how important this one guy is...if it means saving 100,000 people or more, you have to give him up. Unless he's like some otherworldly and irreplacable figure who is completely necessary for joining Russia and the US in some everlasting bond of friendship. To look at this another way...would you choose Logan over 100,000 people, when you could easily slide in someone else who would be more effective than Logan? And I may get my arrested for saying this, but couldn't you say the same of President Bush*?

*-Mabdul Doobakus in no way wishes harm on President Bush. May he live a long and prosperous life.

Yeah, that was easily the best episode since the premier.

Except the Russians might declare war on the U.S, and a lot more than 100,000 people would lose their lives. It's basically a lose-lose situation.

Yeah, that was easily the best episode since the premier.

Well, only if they found out the President knew about it. Which was highly unlikely before he let his wife in on the whole thing. The only other 2 people who know about it are him and Mike...and neither would ever say a word about it. Well, I guess the terrorists know, too. But, really, how trustworthy are terrorists. They say all kinds of sh*t. Why would anyone trust the terrorists?

Yeah, that was easily the best episode since the premier.

I also agree with Logan's decision in this case, and I think Palmer would have done the same thing in regards to both the Russian Prez and the Mall incident. And in both cases the decisions would have been received better by the viewers (and in the mall case, Jack) just because Palmer made them instead of Logan.

The main problem would be that killing President Suvarov on U.S. soil could undermine or nullify the treaty Logan just signed (because I doubt any info about Logan being involved would ever see the light of day and cause a U.S.-Russian war), but I guess he'll have to risk his legacy he was so fond of speaking about in the opening episodes. Another problem is whether or not any foreign leaders would ever feel safe in the U.S. again, but if they're willing to come to L.A. after the incidents of the past 4 seasons I doubt a little assassination attempt on the Russian Prez is going to deter them anytime soon.

Well, it's not like Palmer has never negotiated with terrorists before (season 3 with Saunders) or authorized actions against other nations (season 4 Chinese embassy). I guess he never authorized the murder of a foreign leader on U.S. soil, but that situation never arose in his Presidency, his other actions lead me to believe he would have made the same decisions as Logan in both the mall and with the Russian Prez.

Yeah, that was easily the best episode since the premier.

David Palmer would have loved nothing more than if his wife got into a car that was a terrorist target. :p

Lynn (CTU Division) is ruining every chance of finding the Syntox Nerve Gas before it explodes. He's put Buchanon in holding, and it looks like their gonna arrest Chloe and Curtis. Anyone else think that he might be on the inside?

Nah, I highly doubt it. I think he's just under a lot of pressure. I also can't say I really fault him for putting Buchanan in holding. His suspicions that they were working behind his back were spot on--what else is he supposed to do? Or think? He did exactly what he should have done with the information that he had. I don't get why they're working around him so much. Why not fill him in? He hasn't really been that obstructionist until now--and he's that way now only because Jack and Co. have basically forced him to be that way.
