That game was insane. Duhon and Taylor get into a fight, then no less then 5 minutes later Davis goes into the stands, then Crawford hits a game tieing 3 with 4 seconds left, then Gordon drains the game winning shot as time expires.

I watched the game.. pretty crazy. AD didn't do anything but he'll most likely get suspended, even though it probably isn't deserved. It takes a lot to get him mad.. but if theres one guys wife i wouldn't mess with, its AD. The guy is a beast.

 

Duhon is about the most relaxed player there is.. takes a lot to get him steamed too. Mo Taylor threw a cheap shot on Duhon.. Duhon retaliated. They got thrown out the very next play for jawing at each other I think. That was pretty confusing.

 

Gordon dropped it at the buzzer.. good stuff. Two crazy OT wins for my teams tonight.

i honestly dont think his wife was being physically abused and if she was im sure another fan would have said something to security. wtf was davis watching the stands for anyways? are the knicks that bad he cant even pay attention to the game?

 

call me ignorant but his wife was not being raped or beaten in front of the rest of the crowd.

 

im sorry but everyone is VERBALLY abused once in a while especially at a sporting event. and im sure even a woman can protect herself verbally.

Some of his teammates made it sound like the verbal abuse was going on a few times up and down the court... and then Admin Brown made it seem like, during the timeout, AD thought he saw his wife "fall back" like she had gotten pushed. I would have certainly done the same exact thing if thats what I saw too.

 

AD is one of the class acts in the NBA, he shouldn't be penalized. It takes him a lot to get steamed and he just doesn't run up into the crowd during an overtime game for the fun of it.

The fan Michael(i think) Axlerod who is the son of some democrat that has worked with Obama is Suing Davis' wife for scratching his face, and suing Davis himself for liek yelling at him or something.

 

Apparently his wife has a really bad temper. The radio guys said she was like that when Davis played for the Bulls, and a caller called in saying that his son players Y-ball with their son and that she has gone off on people before.

 

They had another caller saying that he saw her scratching the man, then going after another man.

 

So apparently this wasn't the fan, but Davis' wifes fault.

I heard on the radio today that AD's wife is known to be someone who isn't afraid to let others know that she's a superstar's wife, and apparently has caused trouble before (not saying she caused this). Take that for what it's worth.

Deadspin reader Tom Malkin was in a section right by Antonio Davis? wife during the incident at the United Center last night, and he has a very different take on what actually happened prior to Davis? stomp upstairs. Here?s an excerpt:

 

A fan who was sitting two rows directly behind her, was rooting loudly for the Bulls. He did not say anything offensive. He did not swear. He was just rooting for the Bulls. It appeared that Kendra (Davis? wife) didn?t like it that someone was rooting against her husband. She got up and went to the guy?s seat (he remained seated the whole time) and started waving her hands in his face. She kept telling him to ?calm down? and ?relax,? and the guy kept telling her to get away from him. He was not at all confrontational. She called a member of the Bulls security staff over and told him what had happened from her perspective. He did nothing to discipline the fan since he apparently did nothing wrong.

I?m an ex-New Yorker living in Chicago and I was at the Bulls game last night. I wanted to share a different perspective on what happened because what is being reported is not at all accurate. I was sitting less than 10 feet from Kendra Davis and saw the whole thing.

 

The section of seats is filled with longtime season ticketholders so there are no ?troublemakers? who sit there. Given that it was Eddy Curry?s first game back in Chicago since being traded, most of the seats in the section were filled by the ticketholders themselves.

 

Throughout the game, Kendra was making a spectacle of herself. She?d stand up during the game and yell to her friends sitting behind her. The only alcohol I saw consumed in the section all night was by members of her group.

 

When the game went into overtime, the intensity obviously increased. A fan (the balding fellow mentioned in Jay Mariotti?s column today) who was sitting two rows directly behind her, was rooting loudly for the Bulls. He did not say anything offensive. He did not swear. He was just rooting for the Bulls. It appeared that Kendra didn?t like it that someone was rooting against her husband. He asked her to stop sticking her finger in his face, but she continued to do it and he grabbed her finger to defend himself because he didn?t not know what her intentions were. As he held her finger, she lunged at him with her other hand, and he grabbed that one to protect himself. He pushed her hands away from him, and at that point Antonio Davis arrived at his seat. There was a Bulls security person who restrained him from going after the fan. Davis was then escorted back down to the court.

 

Security talked to a number of people and quickly determined that Kendra Davis was at fault. She and her kids were escorted from the section. The balding fellow left his seat for a short time to give his statement and returned to his seat a short time later. Nobody was ejected, nobody was arrested.

 

From the stories I?ve read, this is not the first time she has gotten in trouble at a game (the argument with Latrell Sprewell). One of the other fans sitting in the section was from Naperville, where Davis lived while playing with the Bulls and his\ son played Little League baseball with Antonio Jr. (Davis? son). He said that she was constantly making a spectacle of herself and would routinely getting into arguments with other fans and families.

 

I hope you?ll get this side of the story out. People should know the truth about what happened.

Second of all, Antonio Davis is a superstar?...

5 games is a just right suspension in my mind. I agree with what AD did, if I see my wife being harrassed or if I feel she is in any trouble, Im definately doing what AD did. With that said, Commissioner Stern had no other recourse than to suspend AD. If you make an exception for AD, saying that what he did was justified than you have left yourself vulnerable for something similar happening again. The penalty was obviously much less severe than that of Ron Artest, as it should be, but the 5 game suspension is well warranted.
