September 2, 200321 yr it would be around 38,000 to 42,000. It depends on the site and amount of money they want to spend.
September 2, 200321 yr Here is the last proposal in Bicenttenial Park. http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com/future/...amiBallpark.htm Feast on the pix and the numbers.
September 2, 200321 yr I remember hearing a smaller ballpark (40,000) would be a lot cheaper. We still wouldn't sell out, but $ is what matters. Loria should sell his art and buy a stadium. And that dum bass Jeb Bush: Why not a tax on hotels and cruises in Port of Miami and South Beach? A 2$ tax on every person would not hurt the industry cause rich people go there, and it would raise a lot of money. It makes great sense. Miami Arena site would be cool because there is parking, metrorail, and it would help clean up Overtown!
September 2, 200321 yr Miami15, Jeb is not the one who passes laws first of all. Second, the state had/has other things to do with tax money that are better like education. We have a budget shortfall, don't expect help from the state. Miami wants a new ballpark, Miami has to pay for it.
September 2, 200321 yr Second, the state had/has other things to do with tax money that are better like education. Screw education, GO MARLINS! :lol
September 2, 200321 yr Guys, dade County has the money from it's hotel/cruise taxes to pay for the ballpark. That is how Penelas would repay the bonds, that along with ballpark revenues. The things is he has to budget that money carefully sinc eit has been dedicated to other projects as well. Don't worry about a new ballpark. Let Loria worry about it, when he asks for support, give it to him. He has not asked for it yet.
September 2, 200321 yr Don't worry about a new ballpark. Let Loria worry about it, when he asks for support, give it to him. He has not asked for it yet. Exactly. It will get done.

September 2, 200321 yr We should try and get a ballpark. If we get one it would be better for the FO they wont have to pay the stadium owner any money and will save a WHOLE lot of money. Also more fans will come depending on the location.

Yes, the Marlins purposed to construct a stadium in the area and were willing to cover rent payments (Not purchase the stadium which estimated cost is about 500 million$.) but city mangement wasn't for it. Management also ruled out using tax money. I posted this already.......
September 2, 200321 yr Screw education, GO MARLINS! :lol YA! Scerw eucacion! JO Marlins!  :lol :lol :lol :mischief2
September 2, 200321 yr Last year i heard something about Marlins possibly building a Stadium in Boca Raton but im not sure how reliable the scource was .
September 2, 200321 yr Loria knows that any stadium builtfor the Marlins needs to be a retractable roof. But hey, a stadium is a stadium, none the less. Why does it have to have a retractable roof? I'd rather sit in a dome in air conditioning than sweating outside. If they'd stop with this retractable roof nonsense and just build a completely domed stadium and install the new NextTurf stuff, they could save probably $100-200 million on the cost of building it and get the damn stadium built already.

The only thing the city should to is try to get him the land to build it on.
September 2, 200321 yr Strictly Domed roof ..... Are you crazy? South Florida weather is awsome , except for the summer showers ,other than that the weather is a amazing , Especially at night
September 2, 200321 yr Strictly Domed roof ..... Are you crazy? South Florida weather is awsome , except for the summer showers ,other than that the weather is a amazing , Especially at night The summer showers are the reason people don't go to the ballpark more often. They'll be closing the roof most of the time, so why not just have a domed stadium?
September 2, 200321 yr I have been to 20 plus home games this season ... (i would go to more but i live 150 miles away ), and i have yet to be rained out while i was there . I would like to know the number of games Rained out or Rain Delayed this season , to see if its cost effective to even have a retractable roof. Fry when you said that people dont come to the games because of the rain is totally wrong , ok maybe 1000 people dont come to the game because of the rain. I think the real reason people dont come to the games is because the majority of florida's population are "Out of State Transplants " , I am originally from PA. but have routed for the Marlins when they first were started in 1993 . I know this is off the subject but you know and i know there are so many damn fair weather fans in florida its disgusting .
September 2, 200321 yr its not that people look at the weather before going to the game. If you live in SoFla and you know it rains every day or the heat index will be 100, would you want to take a risk and go to an afternoon game? Who here lives in Broward? Would you be willing to go to Downtown Miami for baseball? Because I've been to 24 games, though I live 15 miles from Pro Player, and if the Marlins played in Broward, like the Panthers, I'd probably go only 10-13 times a year.

Because I've been to 24 games, though I live 15 miles from Pro Player, and if the Marlins played in Broward, like the Panthers, I'd probably go only 10-13 times a year. I live in SE Boca and make it to 10-15 games a year. I can guarantee you that if you put a new stadium in DT MIami you lose alot of whatever fan attendance that currently comes out of PBC. WHo wants to drive from PBC to downtown for a weeknight game? What, leave at 5 to make it in time for a 7:05? Forget about it. Besides, hasn't 10 years in Miami-Dade County proven that the support isn't there?
September 2, 200321 yr 10 years in Dade? Hardly!!! Pro Player is less than a mile from county line road. A mile from Broward!!! There are 2 million people that live in Dade but south of the stadium. FtLauderdale is closer to the ballpark than Miami is. Plus, North Dade is mostly, poor and African American. Not your usual baseball customers. I know people who live in South Dade that have to fight hours of rush hour traffic to get to the game. Broward and PBC are going against rush hour traffic. The team wouldn't do great in Downtown but it would be a big improvement. People in Broward and PBC can take the TriRail to the MetroRail to downtown. People in Dade have no way to get north. Its the Miami Metro Area, not the Fort Lauderdale Metro Area!
September 2, 200321 yr 10 years in Dade? Hardly!!! Pro Player is less than a mile from county line road. A mile from Broward!!! Still Dade to a PBC resident. And closer than DT Miami. North Dade is mostly, poor and African American. Not your usual baseball customers And who exactly is it that lives in Overtown and DT Miami? Broward and PBC are going against rush hour traffic Yeah, I tell myself that every time it takes me close to an hour to get to PPS from PBC on a weeknight. People in Broward and PBC can take the TriRail to the MetroRail to downtown. Tri-Rail? Speaking of "not your usual baseball customers". Yeah, I can see alot of middle and upper class fans saying to themselves "I don't want to sit in my Benz with three kids for hours on end in traffic. So I'll just hop on the Tri-Rail!!" Not gonna happen.
