February 8, 200620 yr Hi guys, I'm a big Marlins fan as well but I live in Pennsylvania. This May I am planning on going to Dolphins Stadium for the first time to see the Marlins play the Cardinals. I have seen the Marlins when they have played in this area, but never in Miami. I am not familiar with the area so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. What is the best way to get to the stadium? Is there some kind of rail system that leads to the stadium or do you have to drive right to the park. Thanks in advance for your help.
February 8, 200620 yr Welcome to the boards.. Glad to see ur a Marlins fan.. Yes you are going to have to drive to the stadium... Really depends were you coming from? Do you plan on staying at a hotel, If so where?
February 8, 200620 yr If you looking for a hotel.... El Palacio Sports Hotel is seconds away from the stadium.. Not the best 5 star hotel but it should do...
February 8, 200620 yr Author I will be staying at a hotel. I haven't reserved anything yet because I'm trying to make the trip to the stadium as easy as possible. I will be going to every game in the series. If I remember correctly the games are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Where would be a good area to stay?

February 8, 200620 yr There's a hotel right around the corner from the stadium (as mentioned above) but it's not the best, or in the best neighborhood. It is incredibly convenient though. If you're looking for fun/proximity to the stadium, Coconut Grove is the way to go. Many professional sports teams stay there when they're in town (the Mayfair is where a lot of them end up from my experiences with the NBA).
February 8, 200620 yr If you're coming from the North just hop on the Florida Turnpike. If you're coming from the South take the Palmetto or I-95 and connect with the Turnpike North at 163rd St.(Golden Glades Interchange). Either way there's an exit just for the stadium. It's perfectly located, easy to get to, and will take less than an hour to get to unless you're coming from North of Palm Beach or South of Kendall. As there really is no true downtown down here, it's the easiest, fairest, and most ideal location in all of the suburban sprawl of Dade-Broward-Palm Beach, which is why Joe Robbie chose it as the site for his stadium years ago.

Yea most def.. the one I stated is seconds away but not a GREAT/Fancy hotel.. Depends what your looking for
February 8, 200620 yr I wouldn't recommend the El Palacio even if the ONLY thing that you were doing here was going to Marlins games. There's plenty of other options within a 30 minute drive. It just depends on your budget. Check Expedia or Travelocity, etc.
February 8, 200620 yr Stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, it's about 5 minutes away from the stadium and both the stadium and Hard Rock Hotel are next to the Turnpike.
February 8, 200620 yr There's a Hojo's right outside of the stadium off the 826 exit... But ya, Hard Rock is the best way to go. Just go to the Turnpike...Turnpike to stadium. Cake.

Cake. welcome to the boards, if you are considering the hard rock, just make sure your budget is sufficent...the hotel although is beatiful, it is through the roof as far as prices. and if you are going to consider it, you might want to book now, i was out there last week and they were already booked solid through the end of march
February 8, 200620 yr Check out the Marriot on the 17th Street Causeway. It's right on the water and about 20 minutes or less from the stadium.
February 8, 200620 yr Stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, it's about 5 minutes away from the stadium and both the stadium and Hard Rock Hotel are next to the Turnpike. :thumbup That's the way to go. And the Hard Rock is a vacation in itself. You'll never be bored if you stay there. Go to the pool during the day, maybe play some poker, go to the game, come back, go out to dinner or a club, go to sleep, do it all again.
February 8, 200620 yr Stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, it's about 5 minutes away from the stadium and both the stadium and Hard Rock Hotel are next to the Turnpike. yeah good thinking Accord. That's gotta be the top place to stay at, plus it's so new & right next to the stadium. Either that or something on the water, if that's your thing.
February 8, 200620 yr I've flown down for games before. In fact I will also be doing it this year again. I suggest flying Southwest into Ft. Lauderdale (I don't think they fly into Miami). There are some great places on the water with about a 30 minute drive to the stadium. In my opinion it is pretty pointless to stay in a hotel that close to the stadium. I assume you will be renting a car, correct? if he wants to go to D.S., he better be renting a car the best option near the stadium (as mentioned above) is the Hard Rock
February 8, 200620 yr They don't have a bus system to take people to the game? Mass transit in South Florida?
February 8, 200620 yr They don't have a bus system to take people to the game? Mass transit in South Florida? :plain Hey, I'm no expert. I know the subway, train, and bus systems pretty well now in Baltimore and DC though. It's pretty easy to get around up here. :thumbup You guys are lucky. Damn the lack of proper city planning!
February 9, 200620 yr Those of you recommending the Hard Rock.....have you ever stayed there? It costs 300-400 per night. The beachfront Marriot costs the same. There's plenty of other options within a 40 minute drive for 100-150 a night. If it was me I'd stay at a Courtyard Marriot in Western Broward about 30 minutes away from Joe Robbie Stadium. If I wanted to visit the beach-Las Olas area I'd drive there. If I wanted to gamble my money away to the Indians or go to the clubs there I'd drive to the Hard Rock.
February 9, 200620 yr Author Hey guys, thanks for all of the information and suggestions, I really appreciate it.

February 9, 200620 yr They don't have a bus system to take people to the game? barely theres only 2 routes that service the stadium (broward #2, dade #27), and the chances of catching a bus after a night game is slim and none.
February 9, 200620 yr If I was coming down here for the first time I would definitely want to see South Beach. Some of the hotels are quite reasonable.
