February 13, 200620 yr Maybe its just me but I think Sammy Sosa could help this team. Maybe not win 20 more games or whatever but certainly in the PR department. This guy is only 12 homers away from 600 and the Marlins certainly can find a million bucks that he wants to get him here. Figure some minorities still look up to this guy despite whats happended so maybe, just maybe it puts more buts in the seats. Also figure he cost a million, you would for sure make that back if not double in his chase of 600? Woody Page said the same thing today during cold pizza. he would be good for a low budget team to make some money. I think it could work, and figure what have we got to lose? were not going to win 60 games anyway.. opinions?
February 13, 200620 yr I read that the Marlins thought about both Sosa and Juan Gonzalez, but decided to pass because they wouldn't be more than a 1 or 2 year option anyway. I'd pass, but I wouldn't be terribly upset if he came.
February 13, 200620 yr sammy would just prevent a young kid from taking up a roster spot. Yeah Sammy would be a pointless addition to the Fish. Only thing he would do would put a few butts in seats for about a month until people start seeing how bad he is.
February 13, 200620 yr PPS would be sold out every night as Sammy got closer and closer to 600. Good point.
February 13, 200620 yr PPS would be sold out every night as Sammy got closer and closer to 600. Don't know if I'd go that far, but there would be an increased interest.
February 13, 200620 yr Author ok we can pretty much say that thered be 30,000 or more at every game until he gets to 600. so what if all these people keep showing and the team actually produces and is good. maybe then do more people come back to watch the team after sammy gets to 600? maybe and maybe not but i think its worth a try. we are gunna be lucky to get 30,000 unless the red sox are in town so i think this is a chance the marlins should take
February 13, 200620 yr No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Counter-productive. Besides the fact that he's just not that good anymore, he's a primadonna and would impede the transition of this ballclub to one that is led by Willis and Cabrera. We don't need these kids learning Sosa's bad habits.
February 13, 200620 yr why not.. let him try to get 600.. if he is sucking beyond belief after a month or so cut him
February 13, 200620 yr It's a crapshoot having Sosa versus a player that is rushed up and needs another year yet... But, I do agree that having him around during HR600 Watch might give the team and the "kids" some good media exposure in the interim... If it's a 1 yr cheap-ass deal, I wouldn't be upset...
