2006 Slogan Contest - Finals

Featured Replies

Hey everybody.

Your opinions as individuals do not matter, as we are having a series of polls to determine the winner. :thumbup

Born Again

I just don't get how someone can insult the slogans in the finals while at the same time support "Who the hell are these guys?" that would've embarassed the site and it's history.

Stop hating. Jeez. :plain

"Who the hell are these guys?" was hilarious and straight to the point. I mean, seriously. When I go to opening day, that's going to be my exact reaction.

Anywho, I voted for "True fans never die".

I'm definetly not surprised at the people who are complaining and calling for revotes or renominations.

Quick lesson on the society you live in: it's a democracy. What that means is that a series of choices are presented, and the one with the most votes wins. All of the other ones lose. It's winner take all.

The minority could be loud, but just consider that if all of the majority spoke up for their vote they would compeletely and totally trump your voice. Why? Because there's more of them. What a concept!

Yeah, I mean you'd think frequent visitors to marlinsbaseball.com would know the players who play for the Marlins.

When I go to opening day, that's going to be my exact reaction.

It shouldn't be and it shouldn't be what what visitors of this site think we all are thinking either. Just saying.

I agree. I am not even a Marlins fan and I could name your 9 projected starters next year. You should know who they are.

When I go to opening day, that's going to be my exact reaction.

It's just a little humorous and I dont see why everyone is getting so effin serious about it. But whatever, I understand that's not the message you want to send to other people and that's cool.

And I'm pretty sure we all get the concept of democracy, Juanky. We dont need another "I'm Juanky and I'm smarter than all of you" posts. Kthanks.

Life or Death? That's what this poll comes down to.

On one end of the spectrum, we have "Born Again". It's fresh. It's light. It looks excitingly towards the future. The imagery of birth elicits positive thoughts: cute little babies, teddy bears, fresh starts, second chances. It anticipates something new.

On the other hand, we're faced with "True Fans Never Die". It's bitter. It's unhappy. It looks towards the past and brings up notions of regret. The most prominent idea here: DEATH. The fan who chooses this asserts that the "real" team is gone, but begrudgingly continues to support the team. This slogan lives in the past.

I'm looking forward. The team is "born again" with new players, and I embrace them.

As an aside, if a stadium in South Florida gets finalized furing the season, I propose changing the slogan to "Safe at Home".

Reloaded says the same thing as Born Again but sounds more awesome and less Christian. Maybe we could have a runoff like the "Hunt for Teal October" "Hunt for A Teal October" thing.

And I'm pretty sure we all get the concept of democracy, Juanky.

Obviously not, since people whose preferred choices lost in previous rounds are still whining and complaining :thumbup

Then don't presume it's meant at you unless you're directly quoted. :thumbup :thumbup

Since it looks like there won't be a mistrial ( :lol ), I went ahead and voted for True Fans Never Die.

These choices obviously suck. I'd rather go with, "Just forfeit" than any of these sh*tty ass choices.

School of Fish was corny, but I liked that write-in nomination. Anyway, it looks as if we should have a poll for everyone to vote whether or not we should have a RE-vote...

We did have one, but it was shut down.

Screw it, I'm not going to fight over something as trivial as a slogan.

I abstain from voting. Neither choice is any good, it's the 2000 Election all over again.

Vote bitch, or I'm gonna f***in kill you.

You have the right to choice between a douche and a turd!
