Milosevic found dead in cell

Featured Replies

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) -- Slobodan Milosevic, the former Yugoslav leader who orchestrated the Balkan wars of the 1990s and was on trial for war crimes, was found dead in his prison cell near The Hague, the U.N. tribunal said Saturday.

Milosevic, 64, apparently died of natural causes, a tribunal press officer said. He was found dead in his bed at the U.N. detention center.

Milosevic has been on trial since February 2002, defending himself against 66 counts of crimes, including genocide, in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo.

AP Story (Palm Beach Post)

His death comes less than a week after the star witness in his trial, former Croatian Serb leader Milan Babic, was found dead in the same prison. Babic, who was serving a 13-year prison sentence, committed suicide.

That shows how stupid the ICJ is when someone on trial dies from natural causes before their trial is over.

This is why the UN isn't trying Saddam.

Milosevic got off way too easy and was never convicted.

he "got off way too easy" by dying in prison?

what do you think his eventual outcome would have been had the tribunal convicted him?

Good point. But part of the appeal of an execution is the impending dread. Knowing when you are going to do can be a very scary thing. Not that I defend it per se.

See above point for my reasoning.

to my knowledge, the tribunal doesn't have a death penalty.

so it's an early death inside of a prison cell vs. a later death inside of a prison cell.

might as well be pleased with the outcome here.

I was glad to see this murderer finally die, whether it was natural or not. The guy was the 1990's version of Hitler, and deserved justice for his crimes. Unfortunately The Hague's process is so unbelievably slow that he had been on trial for like 5 years before he died today. It shouldn't take this long to try someone.

Either way, I doubt Milosevic is pleased with the outcome.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :notworthy

All I have to say is rot in hell and y'mach sh'mo v'zichro.

Couldn't have said it better myself, and I really only say that for Hitler.

See you later, a**hole.

If you don't mind me asking, when do you wish to see Milosevic later?

What difference does it make? The man is gone and the world is better off without him.

Tests Show Milosevic Died of Heart Attack

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Preliminary autopsy results show Slobodan Milosevic died of a heart attack, the U.N. war crimes tribunal said Sunday. In a statement, the court said Milosevic's remains will be released to his family on Monday.

"The Tribunal has received a brief summary of the autopsy results," it said. "According to the pathologists, Slobodan Milosevic's cause of death was a 'myocardial infarction'."

"According to the pathologists, Slobodan Milosevic's cause of death was a 'myocardial infarction'."

Oh come on, you KNOW they made up that term. :lol
