March 24, 200620 yr Ok... I dont think he has it anymore maybe the cancer and everything along with it is finally taking it's toll on him anyone have any thoughts on him? obviously he could be an All Star this year and I would look like an idiot(wouldnt be the first time), but after seeing how he has done over the past 2 seasons along with ST... his skills are really deteriating(sp)
March 24, 200620 yr i've seen a few of his at-bats this spring and he looks awful. not sure he should retire. let's wait and see how he does when the real season starts.
March 24, 200620 yr Author of course, as I say this... I check his stats and they arent as bad they were the other day .270/.370/405 maybe I should store this thread for a month from now... lol
March 24, 200620 yr Lowell's spring average is up to .270...but still with no homers. Alex is batting .097 though, but Alex has a homer. Yikes. Cut bait on those two at the right time. As for Lowell, he's probably done, but I don't think he'll retire, he bitched too much going into the nightmare that was 2005 to get his contract guaranteed (remember the whole Yankee fiasco?) so I doubt he walks away from the $19 million owed to him.
March 25, 200620 yr In Boston he'll hit a bunch of hrs that in the Pro were pop flies. Agree.. Not sure if retirment is an option yet...

I thought for sure this year was going to be his comeback year but by the looks of his play so far this spring, I'm not so sure anymore.
March 25, 200620 yr Lowell's spring average is up to .270...but still with no homers. Alex is batting .097 though, but Alex has a homer. Yikes. Cut bait on those two at the right time. Abraham Nunez says Spring Training means a ton.
March 25, 200620 yr In Boston he'll hit a bunch of hrs that in the Pro were pop flies. A lot of those pop flies never left the infield.
March 25, 200620 yr Trust me, in Boston they will make it at least to the monster. So he should at least give it one more shot in here and if it doesn't work then i guess that he should retire. There is no reason why he should do as bad as he did last year.
March 25, 200620 yr Guaranteed contract => Red Sox will "buy him out" for 50 cents on the dollar, assuming 1H06 is really terrible/embarrassing. He will not retire of his own accord.
March 25, 200620 yr Lowell's spring average is up to .270...but still with no homers. Alex is batting .097 though, but Alex has a homer. Yikes. Cut bait on those two at the right time. Abraham Nunez says Spring Training means a ton. Yeah, but Abraham Nunez thrived in the spring and then fell to sh*t during the season. So, using your logic, the already anemic spring averages of Lowell and Gonzalez have no where to go but down.
March 25, 200620 yr Why would he retire when he is owed something like $18 million over the next two years? No chance he's going to retire and give up that kind of money, mabye he'll retire once his contract is up or something, but no way he gives up this money unless the Sox buy him out some how.
March 29, 200620 yr Author did anyone just catch his at bat? what on earth was he swinging at?.... i feel bad
