Rice: "We've Made Thousands of Errors In Iraq"

Were you conceived with a weak sperm? Oh noes, the DISRESPECT! HALP!

That's obviously in reference to a quote I've made before. I'm glad you remember it, though.

Yeah, I put quotes from myself in there. I didn't say I was above it. I'm arguing that it's going too far and becoming detrimental to the forums.

Shows you really get the message.

Right now you've got the Iraqis getting absolutely nowhere in trying to form a coalition government. Violence between ethnic groups in Iraq is reaching an all-time post war high. Hundreds of bodies are being found all over Baghdad and the surrounding region just about every day.

I think the biggest problem is, we are assuming that the Iraqis can successfully form a democratic government (like ours) in a region where democracy is a very new idea. This concept of bringing democracy to the Middle East hasn't exactly gone too well. You've got Hamas (a terrorist organization) controlling the PLO. The Iranians just elected an extremely hard-line leader who wants to wipe Israel off the map.

I see that the only way you're going to get a government that works in Iraq is to create more of a confederacy between the Shi'ite, Kurdish, and Sunni regions of the country, rather than a strong central government.

We also need to double our efforts to train effective Iraqi military and police forces, so they can take over control of their country. So far it has been taking way too long.

If you guys think anyone besides Festa was out of line in this thread, grow a pair. Seriously.

:lol :lol :lol

If you guys don't like what he posts, why don't you just ignore it? Why cant people who care discuss in the thread? I mean you do realize the snide remarks just keep the thread fresh right? Real smart there.

Well it happens when all we do is beat a dead horse - in this case, the Iraq War.

So, that's an excuse for me making fun of you, how...?

DODGE, YOU DAMN REPUBLICAN! HOW CAN YOU STILL SUPPORT THIS ADMINISTRATION WITH THESE f***S IN OFFICE!? JESUS GODDAMN CHRIST, THAT'S LIKE ME SUPPORTING PONTIOUS AS THEY'RE HAMMERING JESUS, EVEN THO HE'S OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR!

You see where I overstepped the bounds? There's still ways to talk and discuss without "flaming" each other. I mean, you can still ask why someone believes something and try to prove why their belief is faulty, without being totally disrespectful.

Go to the French thread for evidence of total non-discussion, ad hominem attack. I mean, most of the members in this forum are adults and yet, when confronted with a serious issue, act like opposing students at a high school football game. It's just going too far.

OK I'm not a Republican but sure.

Speaking of Iraqi governments and instability:

Pressure Mounts on Iraqi Prime Minister to Step Down

In the words of Ronald Reagan, "Mistakes were made."

Hopefully once elections are over with....

We will see a Democratic controlled Congress and the era of Bush running roughshod over this nation ends.

I don't understand why everyone feels that way. Had there been a Democratic Congress in place, many things people are pissed about would have been the same. The wiretapping...done without Congress' approval. The ports deal...done without Congress' approval.

The Iraq conflict didn't need Congress' approval either. Truman ignored Congress and went to war in Korea anyway. And even though the War Powers Act gives presidents 90 days after the start of a conflict to get the paperwork done, no one cares about that or pays any mind to it, since Article II Section 2 of the Constitution says that presidents are the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces.

A new Congress won't change anything, only a new administration will.

Wait and see what a Democratic controlled Congress would do.

And only 2 and a half more years of this dog and pony show of Bush.

I hope he doesnt get us all killed before that.

What would a Democrat run congress do?

cant be any worse than a republican ran congress.

I disagree.

Why is that?

First off, any administration that has it's own party will definitely act more rashly. Put aside the ever present threat of impeachment or censure. Just a mere investigation for the sake of fact gathering will always hold a political entity in check. Up until the port deal, the Republican run congress has pretty much given Bush a free pass on everything they do, legal or questionable.

They will eventually be defeated and when that day comes Iraq will be peaceful and democratic.

Well... not sure I'd go that far. :confused

If they DON'T have a theocracy of some kind by five years after they leave...it will be a miracle from God.
