April 4, 200620 yr Anybody feel Uggla should have been bunting in the second inning when we had two on and nobody out? I realize it was early in the game and Uggla is in an RBI spot in our lineup but I was hoping for the sacrifice. I think a 1-0 lead...even in the second inning would have given the Fish a lot of confidence.
April 4, 200620 yr I was thinking the same thing too. It would have been nice to have 2nd and 3rd with one down.
April 4, 200620 yr Not in that ballpark. There isn't exactly a lot of space to come away with a cheap-o sac-fly.
April 4, 200620 yr Author no with Oliva and Eric Reed batting next I'm sure Houston would have brought the infield in thus increasing Olivo's chances. I would have liked Miguel's chances... Oh well...hopefully Mitre will keep us in the game tonight.
April 4, 200620 yr after the game girardi himself said he should have had uggla bunt the runners over.
April 4, 200620 yr Everyone made good points about the ballpark dimensions and the guys who were coming up after........but I still think Uggla has to lay one down there in a VERY tight game. Olivo can sac fly him in any day and Reed showed fly ball power early on.... That decision and the Shadez WTF steal on 3-0 to Hermida changed the game.

Exactly right...unbelievable how the second batter of the game can have such an impact. No way in the world Hanley should have been running. I place the balme for that squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. I can't believe he would have the green light...WTF was he thinking??? :banghead
April 4, 200620 yr i would have bunted with uggla up there, just to move up the runners and try to manufacture a run

The Kids will learn though, 1st game out of the way... Lets see if they get a win tonight!
April 4, 200620 yr Can't agree more. A bunch of inexperienced decisions, all in one game. But, it is obvious they learned from the mistakes. It hurts because it meant the game-today should be better.
April 4, 200620 yr I don't like the sacrifice bunt in general, because I don't like giving outs away. But that steal decision was ridiculous.
