I would say that I am pleasntly suprised that we got 31,000 today. I am pretty sure the next two games will be around 10,000 per game. We just took 3 giant step backs in increasing our attendance and will probably have 2000 crowd numbers, not as bad as 2001 or 2002 I forget which was worse.

I just hate the Cubs and like the Marlins. That and the Marlins/Cardinals series are my favorite series' of the year because I have a vested intrest in all 3 of those teams whether it be positive or negative.

they have to have some say. it seemed like last summer every game was a night game. rarely were there any day games. Now you look at the ChiSox and Detriot series every game has been a day game. I think the Marlins have the least # of day games a season, and if so it is partly because the organization and MLB know the Marlins won't draw during the day. Does someone have that stat?

The reason I made that remark (regarding scheduling) was because it seems to me that I read an article in the last couple of years about how schedules were determined (it arose from questions asked why the Fish seem to have so many days off early in the season and few during the rainy/hurricane season - the article may have been in 2004 when the area was deluged by storm after storm and we wound up playing home games in Chicago to make them up) and it explained schedules are actually done by a third party company, not the Marlins or MLB, somewhere in the upper mid-west (I want to say Nebraska but I could be wrong).

 

I also believe they are done a year in advance or more.

 

If anyone remembers the story or has more info it would be great.

Its ridiculous -- the majority of fans are not Jewish, so they just got gyped out of a game today. Then again with the product on the field were being gyped everyday.... :confused

Well....Loria and Samson are Jewish......and there was a quote in today's Sun-Sentinel by Samson that they intentionally scheduled today and tomorrow's game for day games because it is Passover and as Samson said, "It's not right to have a game going on when people are sitting down to a Passover seder". He's right, there's plenty of times for night games. Why not have day games in April, you certainly don't want them in the heat of the summer.

31,000 isnt bad for a minor league team which is essentially what we are . HMMM new tv contract and ownership guts the team , no doubt pissing off fsn , raises ticket prices , pisses of fans , seems familar doesnt it ???? Montreal ???? Loria is setting the stage to make his move alot easier , fsn will not want to renew with marlins at the current rate when their numbers take a big dip , no one will want to pay higher ticket prices for a minor league product , so even less will go . Loria is the boss so he has say in chosing the start time. So if he wants to get a smaller crowd because of a 1pm game, thats his choice.
