Wild Card
*Proud Member of the Derrek Lee Fan Club* :mischief Pudge is the man also though I just find it wierd, that there are so many Lee haters and Pudge fans, when in reality, Lee has driven in more people. Not to mention stolen more bases and played better defense.

Wild Card
thanks for the heads up.... now who would you rather have(all money =) I'd rather have Lee at first than Conine and with Castro catching than with Conine at first and Pudge catching, if that's what you're asking. *Hopes that wasn't too confusing.*

I never said one was better than the other. Yet while Lee has his polar opposites support wise, Juan gets no support period. I'd also like to add that I noticed today thanks to my fantasy team that Juan Encarnacion has made all of 0 errors defensively. Couple that with a not so bad average, better than expected power numbers and as mentioned RBI totals (and his famed anti-aircraft missile sitting on his right shoulder) and you've got a poor man's Vlad Guerrero. I wouldnt mind seeing his RISP for the enitre year right now. I remember others said that they would accept Lee if he brought his RISP up to . 250. Nielsosky
Let's not forget how well I-Rod has handled the pitching staff. I'm not saying Lee is not good, because he is one of the very solid+consistent players in the major leagues, and does deserve quite a lot of credit for the Marlins' amazing run, but Pudge, in my opinion is a better player. Wild Card
Let's not forget how well I-Rod has handled the pitching staff. Let's not forget how Lee's handled the entire infield. He is, in fact, the best defender in our infield, and gets too little credit for that. He svaes tons of throwing errors, doubles, ect. AJBurnett34
Lee is starting to heat up. Imaging if he was hitting good the whole year. He would have 100 + RBI's. I hope we can keep him next year but with Conine's big contract to 2005 he isnt staying. Pudge has done very good with us since the first day. He has been hitting the ball hard when he hits it and thats what a 3rd hitter is suppose to do.
Wild Card
Imaging if he was hitting good the whole year. He would have 100 + RBI's. So would Pudge, IF he hit well the whole year. Remember, for two months he looked foolish at the plate.

Pudge got off to a slow start at the start of the season(Even though he hit a HR on opening day.)...He was adjusting to the NL pitching. Marlins2003
*Proud Member of the Derrek Lee Fan Club* :mischief Pudge is the man also though I just find it wierd, that there are so many Lee haters and Pudge fans, when in reality, Lee has driven in more people. Not to mention stolen more bases and played better defense.Lee's problem with the Marlins is not that he's not a major league caliber ball player, it's his price tag. Comparing him to Pudge is foolish at best, their roles are completely different. Regardless of his skills, regardless of how fulfilling this season may be for him on a professional level, D Lee's sole objective is to maximize his arbitration award this next year or to sign a (for example) three year $20+ million contract, thus providing his family with financial independence and security, which, if any of us were in his position at this point of his (our) careers would do the same. As long as baseball is saddled with an arbitration process that rewards one side or the other (no Solomon-like decisions) good players like Lee will eventually move on to greener pastures. It's not his fault, it's not the Marlins fault, this happens every year to many teams, Millwood and the Braves for example. Most probably the Marlins will offer him arbitration in the off-season and trade him, perhaps to Baltimore or some other team with deep pockets, that way protecting his trade value. This is how babseball works, I hate it, but I can't change it so I accept it. I hope is does well, I hope more though that the Marlins do well, because when he's gone they'll be no crying over spilled milk as long as we continue to win.
