Design your own dream concert

Just as the thread says, design your own dream concert. However, there are rules. First, try to stick to bands that either sound similar or get a long. Don't put Coldplay and Megadeth on the same stage (or Metallica and Megadeth for that matter :lol ). Second, and the most important, pick only bands that are still around and together. I'd love to see GnR in concert with Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, but two have creative differences and one lost their drummer to mortality.

Pick up to five bands: A headliner (anyone), one upper echelon band (more than four singles), two mid level bands (three singles or less), and an opener (try for bands that haven't made "the leap"). If you want to have five unknown bands take the stage that's cool, but don't just send out RHCP with Pearl Jam and Metallica and call it a day. Also, this isn't limited just to rock, so feel free to throw in whatever music you'd like.

If you want to make it funner, design a setlist for your bands of choice (and remember that they can't play forever)

Mine:

Opener - 10 Years

Waking Up

Empires

Iris

Through the Iris

Wasteland

Coheed and Cambria

Keeping The Blade (from tape)

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

Ten Speed (of God's Blood and Burial)

The Suffering

Blood Red Summer

Devil In Jersey City

Wake Up

Welcome Home

Apollo I: The Writing Writer

Willing Well III- Apollo II: The Telling Truth

Willing Well IV- The Final Cut

Avenged Sevenfold

Beetlejuice Theme Song (from tape)

Beast and The Harlot

Burn It Down

Waking the Fallen/Unholy Confessions

Trashed and Scattered

Eternal Rest

Bat Country

Chapter Four

Betrayed

Sidewinder

Battle Hymn of the Old Republic (from tape)

M.I.A.

Godsmack

Awake

No Rest for The Wicked

Go Away

Voodoo

Voodoo Too

I Stand Alone

Serenity

Straight Out of Line

Bad Religion

Speak

Re-Align

Temptation

The Enemy

Headliner - Metallica

Ecstasy of Gold (from tape)

Blackened

For Whom the Bell Tolls

Astronomy

The Memory Remains

Fuel

Outlaw Torn

Nothing Else Matters

House Jack Built

Wherever I May Roam

Battery

Welcome Home (Sanitarium)

Master of Puppets

Seek and Destroy

One

Enter Sandman

-----Encore-----

No Leaf Clover

Dyers Eve

Fade to Black

Juanky we need to have a long sit-down talk....

oh & as long as "Orion" is the encore I'm down for that concert.

Hehe, why's that?

And a fine choice.....so many Metallica songs I had to leave out because they've just got so many tracks. Orion and Call of Ktulu are masterpieces of metal instrumentation.

I was thinking of one in my head before I read your choices, and I was like holy sh*t they are almost the same.

I would swtich out Coheed and add Mudvayne.

Even for metallica you had almost what I would pick down to a t. However I would like to switch out Astronomy, House that jack built and put in So What and Harvester Sorrow. You did forget one BIG song, Creeping Death.

Maybe Avenged 7x will open for metallica in the fall when they tour the US.

Maybe Avenged 7x will open for metallica in the fall when they tour the US.One can only dream that A7X and Metallica would enjoy their experience in Europe enough that they'd join forces in the US.....I still count the Metallica with Godsmack concert as my favorite but I think Metallica with A7X would surely beat that. Metallica can't be too far from another tour though, I heard on the radio that Lars mentioned they have 6-7 songs already done for the next CD.

I was thinking about putting Creeping Death, but it was one that missed the cut at the end. I threw in Astronomy because I wanted to have a song from every CD (oops, did I miss St. Anger :p ) plus it's one of my favorites despite it being a cover. I threw in the House Jack Built because it's one of my favorites from Load plus you can't play 20 hits! Well, maybe they could, but it'd be fun if they threw in some mainstream unknowns here and there.

Not big on Mudvayne personally, I just like a couple of songs. Not enough to make a ten song list for them, plus I enjoyed Coheed and A7X's joint show a lot.

I don't know why I answered your post completely backwards, sorry.

Juanky we need to have a long sit-down talk....

agreed

but my dream concert would be

oh this is so much fun

Opener: Descendents

middle: Rival Schools

middle: Dinosaur Jr

middle: Pixies

Headliner: Radiohead

oh so hot! That's a pretty good list.....can't say I'm familiar with the Descendents and I've only heard one or two songs from Rival Schools (don't remember), but the others are top notch.

I didnt want to quote you Juanky because I didnt want a 10 page post :) .

Ya Lars said they will most likely play some new songs in Europe. Its only 6 weeks away! That would be sweet if they got some songs out. Lets hope they get along with A7x. That would be a sick tour.

Anyways the album release is scheduled for sometime in the fall or so they say. They will be appearing on the simpsons in september I believe, which might be when they plan on releasing the CD.

As for the dream concert well lets throw in Last Caress, Dont Tread me and my ring tone, sad but true.

If I could be there for that, I would never need to see another concert again.

So much for going with bands that are still together :confused

Well, yesterday I saw Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Kanye West, Sigur Ros, Franz Ferdinand, and Daft Punk. That was pretty dope...hard to do much better than that.

Today I'm probably seeing The Magic Numbers, Sleater-Kinney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Massive Attack, and the Scissor Sisters. With a touch of some Wolf Parade, and either Mogwai or Madonna mixed in.

Coachella rules.

Certainly. But it really depends what you're into. Tool headlined tonight, but I'm not that familiar with them, so I didn't catch any of it. Full lineup is at coachella.com.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I ended up seeing The Magic Numbers, Sleater-Kinney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Madonna, The Go! Team, and Scissor Sister...with a little bit of Massive Attack sprinkled in. Wolf Parade got going too late for me to catch any of that.
