September 21, 200322 yr Stay with Looper as closer. He's done it for us all the way, he's our man -- for better or for worse. After this game I think McKeon really has to re-assess the bullpen situation. What annoys me the most out of Looper's latest poor outing is that he got beat by Vinny Castilla, Julio Franco, and Mark DeRosa. Against the Braves it doesn't get any easier than that.
September 21, 200322 yr Uggy is hardly the "hot girl" anyway. We don't have any hot girls at the dance. Hot or Not, Looper should not lose his job. He has proven to be a top closer for us all year. Stop looking at him thru a microscope and look at the big picture.
September 21, 200322 yr We need UU & Loop. Ideally, Loop will get an easy appearance soon to build confidence. Not sure TJ will trust him with a season-decider before he re-proves himself. Last 2 blown saves were crushing to confidence. Not worried about UU - the Sheffield HR was on a very good pitch. No worries here........
September 21, 200322 yr Author Stay with Looper as closer. He's done it for us all the way, he's our man -- for better or for worse. This is not a marriage contract. This team is playing ball with the best and on a race. We need someone who can close games and get the job done.
September 21, 200322 yr We need someone who can close games and get the job done. Uggy is not a sure thing. Did you not see the 2 run homer he gave up? He had just a bad of a night as Looper did.
September 21, 200322 yr Where did this idea come from that giving up 2 runs on a good pitch is not as bad as giving up 2 runs throwing poorly? I know what youre saying, but giving up runs is giving up runs. If you give up a run on a 300-mph forkball, it doesnt make me feel any better and it still counts the same on the scoreboard.
September 21, 200322 yr how many BS for Uggy and how many for Loop? they both have 6 It doesn't matter...That is what Urbina did in Texas,The Ballpark in Arlington is very hitter-friendly......Urbina pitches better in the NL.Also, The HR that was given up to Sheffield was on a good pitch and Uggy was atleast finding the strike-zone.

Damn straight.
September 21, 200322 yr 2 Runs to blow a save is a big difference that 2 runs with a 4 run lead. If Looper would have only given up 1 run it would have been a different situation but hes costing us important ball games.

I know what youre saying, but giving up runs is giving up runs. If you give up a run on a 300-mph forkball, it doesnt make me feel any better and it still counts the same on the scoreboard. The pitcher who gets burned on a 300-mph forkball is less likely to give up runs in the future than the pitcher who gets burned by walking hitters and generally being wild. That's the issue here. Yeah, both Urbina and Looper gave up runs today. But who is the better pitcher and, thus, the one less likely to give up runs in the future? It's not Looper.

I hope Trader Jack isn't thinking the same. Looper was WILD (Thank you DownRodeo) and Urbina has been a better pitcher for the entire month of September.
September 21, 200322 yr Whatever McKeon decides to do, you can count on seeing Loop in close games. He has said it before, he's sticking with the guy that got the team where it is. Loop will snap out of it. For all of those that keep complaining, give it a rest. Whining about it won't solve the problem. All that matters tonight is that we won. At least now we know that there is more to our bullpen that we can rely on other then Urbina and the Loop. Helling and Fox are always there for emergency and everyone should be able to realize that. It really isn't an emergency yet that Looper isn't throwing well, considering we have other guys for back-up. Everyone thats a Marlins fan owes Admin Beinfest and Loria a thank you for bring in these guys that have been saving our a--. There is no doubt in my mind that without Fox, Helling, and Urbina we wouldn't be anywhere close to where we are right now, and everybody knows it. By the way if you're wondering who I am, I'm from the official site and I've been reading this forum for a while now.

September 21, 200322 yr welcome to the boards DTrizzle. is it me or did i start this Dontrizzle thing No, i started it. :hat I really didn't mean to name myself after D-Train or D-Dub if you would like to call it that, I was just listening to some bad rap that I found amusing. Most rap is bad....
