May 27, 200620 yr Designated pitcher Esteban Yan for assignment; purchased the contract of pitcher Jered Weaver from Salt Lake of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).
May 27, 200620 yr Author He exploded through the minors, last year at this time he hadn't even signed. Angels are getting desperate; too bad Jered can't hit
May 28, 200620 yr Get ready for some lllllooooonnnngggg games with Jared on the hill. He works really sssslllloooowwww I saw him pitch against UM a few years ago & grew a full beard watching him.
June 3, 200620 yr 6.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO His height along with his stuff is just a recipe to be filthy at this level, I'm already a big fan. The kid is gonna be awesome.
June 8, 200620 yr Improved to 3-0 tonight. Against the D-Rays: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO 92 pitches.
June 14, 200620 yr Another ridiculous performance: Against KC 7 IP 5 H 1 R 0 ER 1 BB 5 SO 99 Pitches, 65 Strikes I read that the Angels may demote him when Colon comes back. :plain
June 14, 200620 yr Because apparently there isnt enough room on the rotation. I can't believe they are going to send this kid back :plain I picked him up in fantasy baseball and hes been doing great for me. So much for that :banghead
June 14, 200620 yr Author why not send down his brother? I saw him on sunday, he's horrible I dont think his brother can be sent down (no options left) but Jered needs to be pitching every 5th day so its better for him to be in AAA than rotting in the bullpen in the majors. Wouldnt surprise me if Angels try to move one of their other pitchers before the trade deadline to make room for Jered.
June 14, 200620 yr Why not just DFA Jeff? Then you wouldnt have to worry about sending Jered down or letting him rot in the bullpen. On a side note, what happened to Jeff Weaver? He used to be at least decent.

June 15, 200620 yr Why not just DFA Jeff? Then you wouldnt have to worry about sending Jered down or letting him rot in the bullpen. On a side note, what happened to Jeff Weaver? He used to be at least decent. game 4 of the world series and alex gonzalez hapenned or so i like to think

He used to be at least decent. Speculative on my part, but maybe having his big brother on the team is good for Jered; support, a friendly face and all the jazz. Cutting his brother or sending Jeff down might mentally affect Jered negatively.
June 17, 200620 yr Bartolo Colon will replace Jered Weaver in the rotation and start Sunday against the Padres. Weaver will be sent to Triple-A to open up a spot on the roster. Colon struggled in his final minor league start and has a 7.07 ERA in three starts for the Angels this season, so mixed leaguers at least may want to keep him reserved initially. There's no guarantee that he's over his shoulder troubles, though the Angels have done their best to handle him carefully. Jun. 17 - 3:18 am et I feel bad for the kid. He gets called up, pitches brilliantly to warrant him a spot on any MLB roster. And gets sent down. They should throw his brother in the bullpen. I'm sure he will be back b/c Colon will hurt himself again.
June 17, 200620 yr What are the Angels thinking.......the kid is 4-0 with a great ERA and there sending him down......makes no sence........
June 30, 200620 yr Sanity prevails as Jered has been called up today by the Angels, who have demoted his brother Jeff to the minor leagues. That's gotta be a bittersweet move... well, for Jeff anyway...
