June 19, 200620 yr Simple question: If the Marlins feel like they have a chance at the wildcard, and they become buyers instead of sellers (theoretically), do you think they would invest in Juan Pierre? His contract isn't extreme, and we could maybe get him for relatively little. Seeing as how the Cubs suck and Juan Pierre is having an off season, it would easily solve our center-field problems. "So who is going to get traded? Too early to answer that question with any certainty. But all of these players will almost certainly be out there (or are already): Pitchers: Jeff Weaver, Rodrigo Lopez, Bruce Chen, John Thomson, Jason Johnson, Kyle Lohse, Victor Santos, Kip Wells, Oliver Perez, Odalis Perez, Glendon Rusch, Ramon Ortiz, Jeremy Affeldt, Elmer Dessens, Roberto Hernandez, Salomon Torres, Damaso Marte, Chris Reitsma, Rudy Seanez, Joe Borowski. Hitters: Craig Wilson, Jose Guillen, Juan Pierre, Julio Lugo, Aubrey Huff, Shannon Stewart, Rondell White, Mark Grudzielanek, Reggie Sanders, Tony Graffanino, Matt Stairs, Jay Payton, Bobby Kielty, David Dellucci, Jeff Conine, Kevin Millar, Jeromy Burnitz. " I brought this idea up a few days ago (NO TO PIERRE, by the way). The majority of the board feels it's not going tohappen, but I think it might.

June 19, 200620 yr I dont mean to damper the optimism, but this is like the 3rd thread I have seen on the wild card. I think we should get to .500 before we start thinking about that.
June 19, 200620 yr And not to rain on your pessimism parade Jets_Mania, but the 03 Marlins and last years Astros were in the same exact situations at the same exact time of the year.

June 19, 200620 yr i'd love to see it happen, but i highly doubt it. how much is pierre's salary? the cubs have wanted pierre for a while, and they finally have him. i doubt they're going to trade him away after a slow start. besides who would they put in CF? felix pie? the cubs would probably want a couple of pitching prospects, i don't know if beinfest would be willing to give up part of the stockpile of pitchers. on the other hand, the cubs need to make a move wood's on the DL, prior will be joining him shortly, and they're record is abysmal. they need pitching and that's what we have..so maybe
