Eovaldi, Alvarez to the DL; Jose Fernandez called up
grifftheiii replied to yokofox33's topic in Miami Marlins
Turner was clearly the wise move...and if Fernandez, why not Yelich? -
Should we take a chance with Dontrelle Willis?

Best of luck to a guy who was a hell of a lot of fun to watch (back in the day) -
I don't particularly love the new uniforms, but I love the 50% off sale leading up tonight (I loaded up on F gear) and the optimism leading up to the new season. Whether they be from Florida or Miami, go Fish. PS. Go Heels, Go America

If the Twins are willing to trade Storen for Denard Span, why can't we trade Nunez and Choate for Span? He'd look mighty nice roaming CF (allowing Coghlan to move to 2B).

Did LoMo reveal the new team colors on twitter last night?
grifftheiii replied to Lane1974's topic in Miami Marlins
Yeah, he's joking. Why would we base the color scheme off of the Florida flag when we are losing the Florida from our name and becoming the Miami Marlins? Plus, why would the Miami Marlins, in 2012, have a big F on their hat and jerseys (as in the picture)? -
Per Joe Capozzi's twitter page: "Admin Bienfest says Marlins this winter will kick around idea of giving prospect Matt Dominguez chance at third base this spring"

Bob Davidson was voted the worst umpire in baseball ...

I'm talking de facto, not de jure. If an ump looks into the stands and kicks you out, you're gone. +5 for use of legalese. :thumbup -
http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/hitting_coach_lets_out_long JUPITER, FL—Florida Marlins hitting coach Jim Presley massaged his temples with his left hand and emitted a deep, sorrowful sigh Friday when he realized he would have to spend two hours going over bunting with his team's pitchers. "All right, let's just get this over with," said Presley, who spent much of the practice shaking his head in disbelief and wincing from frustration. "How is it that you're all professional baseball players, but you don't know how to do this? Move up in the batter's box and square yourself off. And make sure you thumb is out—oh, boy. You're going to have to get that checked out." Presley was reportedly in high spirits afterward when he watched infield coach Joey Espada work with the pitchers on throwing to first base.

Me being a Yankee fan should I be happy with this move? Being a Yankees fan I would first and foremost be celebrating having won the World Series. Personal preference though.

Seems like only yesterday when we were hearing his name in the Manny rumors. Ahhh memories.

jim (Baseball): what do u think of tim redding and nolasaco for spot starts today? Thanks Tristan H. Cockcroftt(11:13 AM): Well, I don't really like the Ricky Nolasco matchup because it's a road game against a hot Braves team starting Javier Vazquez. Redding? Don't trust the guy in general, but a road start at Washington, a familiar ballpark to him, isn't that bad a matchup at all. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I prefer Redding here. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/28526 The irony!

"If he were 22 or 23, and his power had not yet fully developed, then it would have been different." And if this was the case, my opinion on what we should do with him would be extremely different.

Marlins get some love in Fox Power Rankings
grifftheiii replied to FlPhillie's topic in Miami Marlins
Yeah, lot's of potential on this team with the pitching staff but considering that bullpen is so unproven I don't see them finishing that high. Better than the braves though. I honestly dont know why the braves keep getting so much love. For the simple fact that it's "the Braves." -
? IN THE STARS DEPT.: While we're on the subject, poor Dan Uggla committed more errors on back-to-back pitches in the All Star Game (two) than he'd committed in the previous 2? months (one). Then again, it was that kind of night. Uggla crammed three errors, three strikeouts and a double-play groundout into FIVE INNINGS of the All Star Game -- a combination unmatched by any player in history in any regular-season, postseason or All-Star Game ever played. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...mp;lid=tab4pos1

Re: Gregg, one poster said: "insurance policy. not great but a low cost descent one. I?m still waiting to see what we gave up but I?m in favor of this deal if it wasnt too much." Oh the differences in organizations...where Gregg is a low cost option to them, he'd be one of our higher paid players (if my memory is accurate).

Very surprised...just...wow.

Do it...NOW!

I' d take defense and pitching, then payroll, then chemistry (for what it's worth).

I've never liked orange for the Marlins. Teal has been a team color since the beginning. Keep the teal! Get rid of the orange! My bridesmaids are planning my wedding shower. It will be Marlins themed and I specifically said no orange. I'm jealous of your fiancee (because you are having a Marlins themed wedding).

Great game by JJ and what a blast by Uggla.
