With the Heat in the Finals, I've been reflecting back on the Marlin's World Series' lately. As excited as I am for the Heat and Wade, I think......NAY, I know....that I am a much bigger Fish fan than Heat.

 

During this 8 game streak, I've been almost as happy as watching the Heat in the Finals. This leads me to believe that if the Fish make the playoffs, that will easily surpass any hype I have about the Heat.

I hear ya...I'm a huge Magic fan and played basketball all my life (varsity 3 years).

 

BUT....there is just something about baseball that I love! The strategy is great....

I'll take a Marlins championship over a Heat championship, thank you.

I remember back in like 2001 a friend asked me if I'd rather see LSU win the national championship in football or have the Marlins win another WS.... I bit my lip and shook my head. I had no answer. The 97 world series was bittersweet because of the following year and my Tigers hadn't won the nat'l championship since 58!! I had no answer, I just shook my head and told him not to ever ask me that question again. Two years later the Marlins won the '03 World Series and LSU won the national championship. Yeah it was a good year for me. But I still have no answer to that question.

Wow, I could never compare college championships to professional....but to each his own.

Dont get me wrong, the Marlins are my favorite team in all of sports (professional and collegiate), but I would pick a Heat or Dolphins championship over a Marlins world series victory only because I would like to spread the love to my other teams

I've seen the Hurricanes win one championship semi-recently and had another one taken from them, and while it was amazing to see them win it all, college has such a different dynamic and I definitely prefer the prosessional. It would be incredible to see the Dolphins win it, but I think if this group were to make it at some point I think it would be the most incredible sports championship for me, just because I saw this team reduced to its foundation and I stuck it out and will stick it out. After 1997, I was much younger and I didn't start really getting back into the Marlins until early 2003- before we were contenders, however. But I still didn't get that feeling like I had been there watching them grow, and I didn't get them on television that year so I didn't know the team that well except for box scores and stories.

I'll take a Marlins championship over a Heat championship, thank you.

panthers to win a stanley cup or another marlins WS. now THAT to me would be incredibly difficult. on one hand the stanley cup is one of the oldest and most coveted titles in all of sports IMO. and then theres the marlins who would be goin for a 3rd title in their short life span compared to other teams who never even sniffed a WS.

 

in the end tho, i love my cats and would probably pic the panthers to finally win it. then the marlins of course :-)

would people go cazy like their did for marlins when their won the world series for heat i remmber going to 103st in hialeah seen people go cazy in street the police have close 103st because of all car and truck on road it was best time of my life

Marlins > Anything else. I root for the Heat but I could careless if they lose.

I am a gator grad but a lifelong Cane fan and the multiple nat championships are so emotional. Funny thing about the gators, they took the year 1996 off of all references to nat champs in football but still have it on emblems and license plates as if winning it once made them the perennial national champs. But, on point, winning the world series in 97 and sharing it with my dad was a dream I never thought I would see-my home town team winning a world series. Remember, growing up down here, never thought I would sniff a major league team. Dad is gone but winning in 2003 brought back the same tears. A Heat win would be great, but not even close- for me.

If I had to choose, it be Stanley Cup. But thats because I live and die by hockey.

 

 

And besides, I have come to expect a Marlins championship every 5-6 years. :mischief
