June 20, 200620 yr Dont we have a history of bringing up top prospects from Double A when they do well there as opposed to AAA? I dont think Beckett, Willis, or Cabrera had to develop more in AAA. Willis and Cabrera both came up because we were in dire need. A.J Burnett was lost for the year, Beckett had blisters, we had spent 10 million on a year of Ivan Rodriguez, and we had a losing record. Willis came up at a time when Mark Redman was the only pitcher performing with any consistency and we were struggling to string 2 or 3 quality starts together. Cabrera came up as we had Todd Hollandsworth as our starting LF. Right now the team is winning, we aren't in desperate need of a starting pitcher right now, so there is no need to rush one up.

A player isnt being rushed if he's ready.

A player isnt being rushed if he's ready. Absolutely, but can you say for certain he is ready? Before these last two good outings, the two before them he gave up 6 earned runs on 13 hits in 10 and a third innings. Now he throws a shutout and he is officially ready. Thing is though, its not even currently a question of him being ready. The questions are can he still improve in the minors? Do we really need him in the majors right now? Is it to our benefit to have all our top pitching prospects hitting arbitration at once? Renyel Pinto is a level higher and has a lower ERA in a hitters league, so he must be ready too. So why isn't he being called up? Same question, same answer.
June 20, 200620 yr If anyone is to be called up for a spot start it would be Petit...Sanchez will be up in September....probably to stay BTW Pinto has some mechanics problems to work out still
June 20, 200620 yr August sounds good to me, especially if we are making a run. Having a guy like Moe around the clubhouse would be good for the team though. June 21, 200620 yr I would trade Moe at the deadline and then call up Sanchez. He has no trade value. Brian Moehler isn't the missing piece for a contender. Wes Helms or Joe Borowski might be though. Moehler could be a valuable piece as a back of the rotation/long man for a number of teams.
