Anibal Sanchez

Featured Replies

Okay, I know Big Moe has been doing awesome lately but I would really like to see Anibal Sanchez in the rotation sometime after the All-Star break. I dont mean right after but maybe in September. Since he is probably going to be our starter next year I would love for him to get his feet wet. Many people say his is ready now but I would like him to get a extra few starts. What do you think guys? I have nothing against Moe but he is not in our future plans.

Last game Ani threw a complete game shutout - (9 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K)

His ERA is 3.15 :thumbup .

There is no reason to call him up yet as the pitchers in the rotation, Moe included, are doing fine. Sanchez still has room for more development (both stuff and mentally), and it'd be nice to see him string a number of quality starts together before he gets called up.

Of course there may be trades to come, and who knows what our record will be come late July. I would rather see guys like Pinto and Petit get their shot first, and let Sanchez develop slowly. Its in our long term interests to stagger our talented pitcher callups too, so they don't all hit arbitration at the same time.

give anibel more time in the minors - there's no reason to rush him. let him get some time in AAA first.

if you want to replace moe in the rotation, petit is more major league ready than sanchez and could easily be slotted into the rotation right now. of course with the way moehler has pitched lately there's no reason to replace him at the current time.

No need to rush Sanchez, if he keeps it up then move him to AAA. Right now I like how our rotation looks. Everyone is doing a damn good job including Moe. If anything I'd like to see Pinto back up here later in the season.

Stupid Moehler wasting a spot from the starting rotation. He's lucky that he's picthing good despite the amazing luck he had with bases juice.

I wait on Anibal. The way this team needs to be set up for now and the future is to bring in the talent over time. That way, no more destructive fire sales. We are very deep and can move higher priced players in the future for more prospects (if anyone will deal with us in the future-yes, there will always be cubs, mets, red sox, yankees) and continually bring up talent. Let's face it, we will never be a $100 million dollar payroll team and will need to move players. As I said before, it may be sad to say goodbye to players, but then you bring up exciting new talent which will fit in to a team that is winning and should win consistently.

All pitchers have a certain amount of luck.

Why can't you give the guy credit? He went with Kranitz, figured out his mechanics issue and since his first 6 starts or so he's been a great guy for the rotation. Eating innings, pitching well, and leading by example.

He'll definitely get his starts in September, if not sooner.

We got two doubleheaders in July so he'll prob. get a spot start in ine or maybe both of those.

I don't see any point in rushing him. If you want to replace Moehler, you should call up Nic Ungs, who has put up some nice AAA numbers.

I would trade Moe at the deadline and then call up Sanchez.

He has no trade value. Brian Moehler isn't the missing piece for a contender.

Wes Helms or Joe Borowski might be though.

and has been in the system for 5 years and never given a chance yet... :plain

I certainly do not know this for certain, but give Moe, Herges and Borowski credit for being the veteran presence they were expected to be. For showing the kids how to act as a professional, even when things are going bad. Maybe, just maybe, Herges, while not pitching well and having real personal issues with his baby, sets the example of how to maintain your composure. Maybe, just maybe, he has been very instrumental with the bullpen's young arms improving to the point they have. Same with Moe, struggling early, working on his problems and now pitching well.

You can tell kids about keeping their chin up, that things will get better if they just work at it but nothing works better than seeing it. Give these guys credit, I am sure they deserve it and I am sure Girardi is well aware of it.

I think the rotation is strong right now. Moehler is pitching with alot of confidence. In fact you could say he has been better then the Train in his last 4 starts. No need in messing up something thats working well.

Leave Moe in and send him off in some sort of deal at the deadline and then let Mitre take his spot for a little while. Call up Sanchez in September to get his feet wet and see how he does. No reason to really push him right now.

leave it alone unless we can move moe somehow for more parts/things we can use.

right now it is fine how it is. :) Lets just have fun withit. That said Sanchez is going to be our ace someday.

Dont we have a history of bringing up top prospects from Double A when they do well there as opposed to AAA? I dont think Beckett, Willis, or Cabrera had to develop more in AAA.

Neither have JJ or Hermida, and Scotty O was only there to get innings before his first start. I think the team would prefer this were the exception rather than the rule given the need to promote talent quickly in recent times.

Exactly...Hermida and Hanley straight from AA to the pros as well.

I think Sanchez can produce right now and will be given a shot after the deadline.

Trust me...sometimes sending prospects to AAA does more harm than good (ex:Resop). Albuquerque is horrible on pitchers...I'm surprised to see Pinto doing so well there.
