Wild Card
Is it me, or was Jeff Conine's curtain call the first since-- I can't remember when.
KJC
I dont recall a curtain call in quite some time... any ideas on who was the last?
BroadwayBaby84
man i dont know either but that was amazing. most people i have seen on a weekday at PPS since probably 97. 28 thousand was a weekend game not too long ago and to have them give conine a standing O and ask for a curtain call... made me proud. FreshFish
I was there, and I'm very proud to have Mr. Marlin back! Who cares now if we overpay for Mr Marlin?
Hotcorner
yeah, i was hoping for a curtain call for Lowell in a game a while back, but the fans weren't up for it... first i can remember in a long time.

Marlins2003
From what's being reported he was literally pushed out of the dugout by his teammates. It was a great moment. It alone was worth the price of admission.
BroadwayBaby84
wait how many fans there tonite? i said 28 thousand but i wasnt really sure. someone said 25 but they had that much yesterday and it looked like more tonite

jonnylons
You know what is really nice? Conine is on the verge of hitting 20 HRs - I predicted that he would next season with us and that he might do it this year. I want him to get that #20 because we would have a lineup filled with 20+HR guys - and it would be nice to see the 'ol dog show some power too. This has to be one of the most important transactions of '03. Without Conine, we dont make the playoffs.
Arnie1941
What I think is neat. We suffer because so many of our potential baseball fans are Northern migrants who have generations full of northern team allegiance. Conine is the closest thing we have to our own hometown heritage! "Build it and they will come."
AJBurnett34
Yep it was nice to see the fans wanted a curtain call. Conine is delivering when we need it but after he goes back into his slump.

AJBurnett34
what are you talking about? is delivering when it matters most really slumping? He Gets the clutch hits but after he starts hitting bad again. He goes like 1-4 with the "1" Being the clutch hit. Like he doesnt hit Consistantly

AJBurnett34
Im not saying he sucks but i would take it too in the WS.....
JBurque
He hits when we've needed him to hit. Plain and simple  You can't tell me a .287 lifetime hitter with 180 homeruns over 13 years isn't consistent.  PLUS his OPS is higher with the marlins now than it was in 97 .742 - 97 .765 - 03 fish

AJBurnett34
ok i will try to explain this.  He gets a clutch hit once in a while but what about his other at bats? Either a strike out of pop up.
