June 27, 200620 yr LOS ANGELES ? (AP) ? The Tampa Bay Devil Rays traded pitcher Mark Hendrickson and catcher Toby Hall to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday for pitcher Jae Seo, minor league catcher Dioner Navarro and a player to be named. The Dodgers began the day leading the NL West. Hendrickson was 4-8 with a 3.81 ERA in 13 starts. The 32-year-old lefty held opponents to a .241 batting average. Hall hit .231 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs for the last-place Devil Rays. He has thrown out 35 percent of would-be basestealers in his career. "Mark will add some depth to our starting rotation as we head into the second half of the season,'' Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti. "Toby is an experienced catcher who will serve us well both behind the plate and off the bench.'' Seo, traded from the New York Mets to the Dodgers in the offseason, was 2-4 with a 5.78 ERA. The righty is 24-26 with a 4.13 ERA lifetime. Navarro hit .280 with two homers and eight RBIs for the Dodgers before injuring his right wrist on May 5. He was sent to Triple-A after being activated from the disabled list.
June 27, 200620 yr First, TB & LA are trade buddies all of a sudden. First Dannys Baez, now this. I like Hall over Navarro (plus Navarro is injured with a wrist injury and those are the worst to come back from) but Seo over Hendrickson (not saying much there). Advantage: Dodgers

The Rays bent the Dodgers over in this trade. Not only did they get Navarro and Seo, they also got a PTBNL. Hall is complete and utter garbage, Navarro is a huge upgrade over him. No, not because Navarro is some future superstar, but because Toby Hall is that bad.
June 27, 200620 yr seems to me like a trade for the sake of making a trade...doesnt really make either team much better...oh well...time will tell
June 27, 200620 yr Tampa Bay with a huge steal here, what are you guys talking about? The rays aren't going anywhere this year, and both Hall and Hendrickson are FA's at the end of the year. By trading for Navarro, they get a guy who can be their starting catcher for a good part of a decade, and in Seo they get a guy with good stuff who just hasn't been able to put it together consistantly yet.
June 27, 200620 yr SEO LOL i watched that game where he walked in the winning run in extra inning a few weeks ago

June 27, 200620 yr must be why Hall wasnt playing yesterday, the Dodgers got the better end of the stick Hendrickson has pitched better of late.
June 27, 200620 yr Hendrickson was to improve the rotation since Seo has failed miserably. I don't get the Hall trade at all though. Navarro was a steal, I don't know why the dodgers keep trying to offer this guy because he got injured.
June 29, 200620 yr I still remember the days of Mark Hendrickson suiting up for the NJ Nets. I think it was the year before Marbury got shipped out of town (after breaking Jayson Williams' leg) for Jason Kidd. Didn't turn out to be a bad deal for them. I couldn't put 1 + 1 together until earlier this year. Pretty unconventional path he took to the majors.

Navarro was a steal, I don't know why the dodgers keep trying to offer this guy because he got injured. Russell Martin's been playing so well, that's why... they have two young catchers, both are definitely starting caliber, so it's a no brainer to trade one of them...i would have tried to get more for Navarro though, if not, then trade Martin instead if you get something more in return
