Nolasco is pitching tonight for the Marlins, and he's looking pretty good. I'm glad to see him doing well for Joe Girardi. It's nice to see a young team like the Marlins play as well as they are. I know they're under .500, but they're doing much better than our Northsiders right now. :( The Cubs could learn a thing or two from those guys. They seem to give it their all each and every game.

When you are playing for your baseball lives you play hard every day. The problem is the Cubs players are too comfortable. As for Nolasco, if you believe how "stacked" our farm system was with young arms, his being traded was a numbers thing, and nothing more.

Girardi can probably get more out of young players because he's not that far removed from playing himself. So he can actually give some good advice about pitchers and players still playing that he played against.

And he's probably willing to change his ways quickly since he's not set in any yet. He's gonna be a good one.

Instead of dealing Mitre and Hill....Hendry decided to go with Mitre....Pinto and Nolasco....

Why...??

Because Hendry loves to fall in love with a particular prospect while ignoring the real talent. Sometimes I wonder if the Marlins know the Cubs farm system better than the Cubs do.....

And all for what??

Pierre will be traded soon for something much less than Nolasco.....

Nice to see some Cubs fan respect us but lets not make fun of them for being 20 games below .500 because they are one of our best trading partners :thumbup

Hey, we were 20 games under at one point. Look where we are now :thumbup The Cubs can do the same thing.

They wanted Pierre and they got him.

They wanted Furcal, but they settled for Pierre.

if im not mistaking...i believe they wanted both...to hit pierre, furcal, lee and ramirez...which is a pretty tough first 4 guys if pierre wasnt have such a bad year...oh well...foolish cubs, maybe someday they will experience a championship before the sun burns itself out :whistle

Uhhh, no. They wanted to sign Furcal to be their leadoff guy, but when that fell through and he went to the Dodgers, the Cubs were forced to contact the Marlins about Pierre and since the Cubs had no sort of leverage in negotiations, they had to give up a ton to get Pierre.

I remember at the time being stunned that there was even a market for Juan Pierre. No disrespect to JP, but it seemed clear as day that his best days were behind him. To give up any decent prospects for someone who's stats were falling big time, and had 1 year till he became a free agent is mindboggling.

This will proably be the one trade we look on and shake our heads and laugh. Atleast with Han Ram and Anibel we gave up a great player in Beckett. But to have gotten a young #1 or 2 starter for JP is amazing.

Go Admin B!

furcal just didnt want that drunk driving clause in his contract.. or he would have signed with the cubs

Anibal was from the Red Sox...but I agree with you..

Willis is probably equal in value to DLee and Nolasco puts it over the top
