How good has he been?

He struggled early, but as did most of our players.

Lately he's almost been lights out and I can't remember the last time he either blew a lead or given up more than one run. He's been a tremendous pickup and I think he has to get a lot of credit for how good the bullpen is going, he's obviously had a positive influence on the young guys like Logan, Messy, Tank, etc. Even though those guys might be the closer of the future I think it's the right move to make JoBo the closer this year, we need an experienced guy in that role.

His performance and our recent record as a team also has to question if we trade him before the deadline. Personally, I say no. As long as the Wildcard is in reach, and right now we're right in the thick of it, we need him. I hope we don't trade him.

Yeah he's done a real solid job. We've just had the best luck with closers lately. Ever since Looper left we've been on a hot streak.

Hey relievers! Career going downhill? Trying to relive those glory days of a few years ago? Coming off a poor season? Come to the Marlins, where closers come to be reborn!

We got a great teacher down here.

He's been solid the whole year, and he works his butt off everytime he is out there, thats all we can ask of him. Great guy to have on this team.

he's been great..in the beginning of the year i was one of the guys shouting for him to be traded..now i'm kinda neutral on the subject. joebo will probably be traded though...

no kidding

Benitez

Jones

Jobo

Florida, were Closers of old are reborn.

Great day for Borowskis. Joe closes out the Sox and ends their losing streak, although that Ortiz flyout went a long way. And over across the pond, Tim played a beautiful header to Klose to tie the game and then scored a penalty to help win it for Germany. Sorry to offend any Argentina fans out there ;)

Speaking of closers, the Mets can't get any luck. Benitez was solid until it came to crunchtime and then they had to suffer through Looper for two seasons. Now Billy Wagner is stinking up the joint despite being paid more than our entire starting lineup AND bullpen (somebody can check the numbers on that if they want, but I'm pretty sure it's correct). I guess it's not easy being the second best closer in the city.

Not only have a lot of closers rebounded in Florida, but we pumped out a few solid ones over the years. Hoffman and Nen did go on to have pretty solid careers, although Mantei never panned out due to injuries. We've had great luck over the years with closers. Let's hope that continues with Borowski and whoever comes thereafter.

Since Loops??? Go back alot farther than that. For some reason this team has always had good luck with closers. Dragon Slayer, Ice Man, Nen, the list goes on and on. We lose one and someone else just slides right into that role.

Yeah, unfortunately Mota didn't pan out, but we had Jones slot in. Too bad last year's team underachieved at the plate.

Now, I know this is controversial, but...

we need to trade Borowski in the next couple of weeks. We don't have a realistic chance at the wildcard, and we're building for the future anyway. Let's trade Borowski now that his value is back up, and see if we can't pluck a top prospect for him (e.g. Adrian Gonzalez for Ugie Urbina in '03).

Los Angeles' closer situation isn't set. Maybe LA will trade us an CF prospect for Borowski... Joel Guzman, anyone?

Ya I agree. As long as the deal brings some quality back and not making a trade because they feel 'they have to'. Kensing can take over closing duties. It would probably hurt the bullpen this year, but ya I have no problem with them trading Borowski. He won't be here past this year and the Marlins can definitely get something good for him the way he is pitching right now.

Unless you're Rob Nen.

Meh, Mota has been a SU releiver for his career not a closer.
