Key to beating Wakefield.

Featured Replies

So guys, what is the key to beating Wakefield?

Some stats:

vs. Left: .195 vs. Right: .261

Day: 1.55 Night: 4.74

Home: 3.11 Road: 5.01

You know the best way to beat a knuckleballer is to get into the mind of a knuckleballer. Think they can bring in Charlie Hough in for about an hour session on how to hit it? :mischief2

Purely antedoctal I know but there is a guy in Miami who throws an unbelievable knuckleball that is mesmerizing. I hit against him a number of times and the conventional wisdom was move as far up in the batter's box as you can because those last six inches over the plate will get you everytime.

In no way am I equating a local talent to Wakefield (or my own skills or lack thereof) merely making an observation. If Wakefield is "on" we're in for a frustrating night, and a lesson hard learned.

But you never know with a knuckleballer.

Holly's stats, at least for the moment, gives me some hope.

I was saying yesterday we should bring Charlie Hough in to throw BP before today's game if he's available (I'm not sure if he is employed elsewhere right now). That'd give the guys a little extra help.

WE WANT HOUGH! WE WANT HOUGH!

Well this is to Moehler to keep the game close. He is known for most of the blow out games we face during last month but he can sometime get lucky to get a quality star. It seem like its the first 2 innings that kills Moehler before he seattle down, that if he make it through those inning.

Let's just hope Wakefield is off.

Excellent analysis...

:notworthy

i say just see the ball hit the ball....this is the only time we will see a knuckleballer the whole season unless ....you know :mischief ....anyways lets not gto into a slump because of this .....if our guys start changing thier swings for this one game then we could not only lose this game but many others....

Start Helms over Jacobs and Borchard over Hermida?

Hope he has little control, don't swing at the unhittable knuckles, and punish him with some big flys.

If we get on base, we have to be aggressive and try to steal a bunch of bases. With those knucklers, we should get a chance to run a little bit.
