Pee Wee's Playhouse

Featured Replies

This was my favorite show growing up. It'll be running nightly at 11 PM on the Cartoon Network starting tonight. I haven't seen an episode in 15 years, so I'm pumped for this.

Laurence Fishburne and Phil Hartman regularly appeared on the show. And it's generally considered one of the greatest Saturday morning shows of all time.

No, those charges were dropped. Supposedly, it was a part of some strange kind of art collection. I don't think he's a pedophile, or particularly into child porn.

Not that he's not kind of weird.

It's funny noticing all the adult inuendos watching the show now. Then again, he did say he intended the show to be for hung over college students.

Supposedly Reubens got permission to do the show from Andy Kaufman, who had always envisioned doing the show and the work was based on children's parties he used to do. Kaufman was dying of cancer however and gave Reubens permission to do it.

Randy used to seriously creep me out.

You too!? :p

The movie is one of my favorites. I know there's a decent amount of adult innuendo in the kid's show, but the movie is funny on a different level. I have no idea how many times I watched that movie growing up; I only know that every line is pretty much engrained in my brain.

It's Danny Elfman's first and maybe his best film score, too. This was before he started to repeat himself.

Great show.

That and Ren and Stimpy are in my top 3 shows from when I was younger.

Paul R and Phil Hartman wrote Pee Wee's Big Adventure together.

The movie is a classic and I have never gotten sick of watching it.

Funny you mentioned Elfman's score. It just seems like he repeats himself switching a few things here and there. I used to know the whole score to Edward Scissorhands (which I think is his best) and now I can't remember it after watching several different films featuring his music.

Well, I'm certainly glad it's on there. It's the only reason I've ever watched Adult Swim.

In any case, you only have to suffer through it for another 9 weeks or so. I doubt they'll repeat the run.

The Full Intro (because they only show the first part of it on Adult Swim)
