41 home runs in the month of July. Previous high was 35 in a month. They obliterated that record.

But somehow we are still in the basement of the NL for fewest runs scored. A lot of those hr's are solo shots; i rather have less dingers and get more run production out of our hitters. Nonetheless, it's nice that they are showing signs of having some pop because they will hit one out when they need to, like it was the case yesterday.

Like Girardi said, we tend to getting greeding when bases are loading and goes for the 1 pitch home run but end up striking out. Cost us some games there with bad clutch hitting but atliest last night game Fish aggressive strategy work well.

By my count the 2006 already have 122 homeruns.

 

The overpaid and chronically underachieving 2005 team had a grand total of 128 for the entire year.

 

Mathematically, if the 2006 Marlins continue hitting homeruns at the same pace through 162 games, their total could swell to as many as 186.

We're 7th in OPS and 8th in runs scored. Regarding clutch hitting, with RISP we're 8th in OPS and with runners on we're 3rd in OPS. The clutch hitting is not a problem.

The statistics might back up your argument right now but I have seen more than once or twice this year how the Marlins can't score anyone with bases loaded or with a man on third base with one or no outs in late inning situations. If you see, we are in 8th place in the NL now with runs scored because we scored 15 in Philly on the last game, and we have 6 teams behind us with a differential of 15 runs or less. A couple of low scoring games and we are back to the bottom of the pack.

I dont know but there arent many teams that have the top to bottom power that the Marlins have.

 

Everyone from 1-8 (when amezaga isnt playing) can hit it out of the park at any given occasion.

 

Pretty nice to see compared to Marlins of a few years past since you really didnt expect power coming from Castillo or Pierre or Loduca.

Don't forget it is a team record, so its comparable year to year as they always play at Dolphin.

 

Still, a lot of people laughed when some on this board were predicting we would have a significant power upgrade, but to be honest it's beyond even what some had hoped for.

 

On another note, as someone else has pointed out, don't want the team swinging from their heels for the rest of the season, gotta keep that K rate low.
