Your Most Anticipated Movies

Recommended Posts

I needed to waste twenty minutes so I typed this up, feel free to add your own:

Not Mentioned (in no order): The Pursuit of Happyness, Babel, Stranger Than Fiction, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, Goya's Ghosts, All The King's Men, Flags of Our Fathers, The Dark Knight (too far off).

5. Children Of Men - Despite hearing that the book sucked, the movie looks very promising. I generally like Clive Owen's work (Sin City, Inside Man) and the trailer already has me going "What If?" We'll see if it can be pulled off on screen better than on paper.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - Loved the first two movies. Just fun, entertaining ridiculousness. The last movie ended on a huge cliffhanger that certainly left me wanting more. Let's see if Depp can deliver again.

3. The Prestige - Great book that could really be pulled off well on-screen if done correctly. Christian Bale is one of my favorite actors, Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors and Scarlett Johansson is one of the hottest people alive. This movie is a lock to be entertaining, if it's anything better than that, is still up in the air.

2. The Fountain - Combine hugely positive reviews, a fantastic director in Aronofsky, a great cast headed by Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, an epic script, and one of the best early trailers ever created and what do you get? Major hype. The Fountain is currently positioning itself towards an Oscar run (release date changed to November 22nd), can't wait to see it.

1. The Departed - Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen...need I say more? Stellar cast. Great plot. Scorsese. Intriguing as hell trailer. Did I mention Jack Nicholson?

I'm keeping this list down to movies for the rest of 2006 and the beginning of 2007.

1. Spider-Man 3

-It's all about Venom. Best villain in the Spider-Man universe.

2. The Good Shepherd

-What can I say, I'm a fan of spy-movies. This one looks interesting with a good cast.

3. Casino Royale

-I hope to God that MGM didn't screw things up, but it's a Bond movie.

4. Children of Men

-Very interesting trailer. I like to see movies about the future of humanity, even if they aren't looking so good at the beginning. It appears that this film has been pushed all the way back to Christmas from a September release.

5. Flags of Our Fathers

-The production team is loaded with talent on this one. You've got Spielberg producing, Paul Haggis (Crash) writing, and Clint Eastwood directing. Plus, it's a WWII movie.

6. The Fountain

-Very positive reviews so far of an intriguing movie. Worth a watch.

7. The Departed

-Could be higher soon, I haven't heard all that much about this one yet. However, the cast and director make this one I'm going to keep my eye on.

8. Sin City 2

-I have no idea when this is due out. I have heard that production is being delayed until Angelina Jolie becomes available for filming. However, if it is even half as good as the original, we're all set.
