TheDon's going to Savannah, Georgia

Featured Replies

Visiting some family in Georgia and as part of that we're staying in Savannah for 2 nights.

If anyone has been there, are there any must see places there that I should check out?

Any cool restaurants, bars, hangouts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

:cool

hell, i have no idea how it is there. but theres a good chance i'm going there for school next year. tell me how it is :)

The nightlife isn't too bad along River street, lots of pretty cool little bars.

The downtown area is very scenic, and there are several good little pubs. I'd suggest Sorry Charlies or Finnegan's Wake.

If you're looking for good food, go to the Lady and Sons or the Old Pink House. There's also a restaurant called the Pirates House that is apparently very good.

Obviously there are tons of things to see there from a historical standpoint. I'd even suggest going on some sort of guided tour. You'd be amazed at the stories you're told. The ghost tour is pretty cool as well.

Thanks for the input guys.

Im leaving this Sunday. I'll let ya know how it went.

as far as resturants I recommend Jean Louise. (sp) Its a 7 course meal! I believe salad, soup, meal 1, meal 2, sorbet, cheese, and dessert. The menu is nonexistant. the chef, formerly of I heard it was Ted Turner, but it may have been Donald Tump, personally buys each days menu. That is what makes it so unique is that every day is a different menu. if you don't like a specific type of food, tell your server and the chef will do what he can to give you a different meal or make any adjustments as necessary. It is great for couples or families...I went there as a kid twice and each time was invited to the kitchen to help the chef (and the 2nd time, almost 2 years later, they remembered us!)

here is the information and reservations are mandatory!:

321 Jefferson St, Savannah, GA 31401-4228

Cuisines: American, French

Average price*: $55

Tel: (912) 234-3211

haven't been to Savannah in years, but i definently give Jean Louise *****!

Im going to try and give this place a shot.

sounds like a great time.

:thumbup

If you're going to be there on a Friday, you could drive 45 minutes to Parris Island and watch a graduation ceremony of all the new Marines with the Marine band and all sorts of fun stuff. Lot's of museums and whatnot in the area as well.

Ok after 2 nights in Savannah here's my take........

We took a private horse drawn carriage ride through the historic district. Very freakin cool. Our guide was from Germany and she knew the city really well, had a cool accent and was pretty hot too so that was a plus.

After the tour we ate at the Old Pink House. It lived up to its reputation. There's a little piano bar downstairs that was a nice touch.

We stayed at the Olde Harbour Inn on Riverstreet. Hotel sucked.

The second nite I stepped in sh*t on the way to an Italian restaurant so I spent the first 30 minutes wiping dog turd off of the bottom of my shoes. Not cool.

The nightlife on Riverstreet was almost non-existent (it was however a Sun and Mon night so that probably had a lot to do with it). We spent time at Spanky's both nites. Cool staff, and everyone was in a relaxed party vibe. Very attractive waitress was singing the theme from Grease at the end of the night and that was very hot.

I'll probably never go back but Im glad I went and I enjoyed my time there. Im in Atlanta now and should be back in FL by Mon

My best Savannah memory is meeting Ben and Jerry at their shop down by the river. We were just walking to dinner, and someone was like, hey, Ben and Jerry are here and they're giving away free ice cream. I got a picture with them and everything. It did kind of spoil my appetitie for dinner, though. Bastards.
